Do you agree or disagree with the folloing statement? Improving schools is the most important factor in successful development of a country?
The significance of schools has long been a heated topic across the world, since it is school where education originates from. Accordingly, some people advocate that improving schools is the most important matter in successful development of a country. However, as far as I am concerned, the development of a country depends on many factors, and school is just one of them.
It is true that school plays a pivotal role in a country’s long-term progress. As we all know, without the help of schools and teachers, not a child would grow up healthily, either in terms of mentality or physicality. Schools serve to build up child’s ethics, morality, values, and knowledge systems. Moreover, as far as the current situation of schools is concerned, we are in desperate need of innovations and improvement in schools, such as facilities upkeep, staffing, quality of teachers, and so on and so forth.
However, apart from improving schools, many other factors also contribute to the sound development of a country. The single most important one involves the employment rate. As things stand now, people suffer a lot from unemployment. The homeless rummage around in trash cabin. The laid-off crave a decent job. The graduates—tens of thousand of graduates-- struggle for a single opening. Consequently, in order to sustain a sound and rapid development, the government should create more job opportunities. Besides, a sustainable environment should also be considered an important issue. Nowadays, the deterioration of our environment has affected the living quality of human beings. Doubtless, the air we breathe is not as clean as before, and the forests become less and less, not to mention visible star in the sky. These conditions would, in turn, become an obstacle to the development of a country.
To sum up, I agree that by improving schools, the development of a country would be immensely facilitated. However, it is a little bit hasty to jump to the conclusion that improving schools is the most important factor. In my opinion, to promote the development of a country, we should also try every means to increase employment rate and protect our environment. |
