Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? All university students should take basic science courses, regardless of their field of concentration.

Recently, people are debating on such a hot issue that if all the university students should take basic science courses. Someone believes no matter what specific field colleague students devote in, it is necessary for them to intensify their knowledge of different areas. Personally, I disagree with this statement that all the university students are obliged to take these courses owing to the following reasons.

First of all, it will become an additional burden for school to carry out this policy. Suppose all the students have these courses, it is not easy for the university to handle this huge project. Basically, more facilities such as classrooms, labs, equipments are required to continue the teaching routine which will cause abundant extra expense. Besides, more teachers are demanded to cover these courses. Correspondingly, the university has to pay more welfare and salary. What's more, to meet this increasing need, even the number of staff will increase, such as consulters, teaching assistants.

Furthermore, the students may feel exhausted. As we all know, colleague students have made tremendous effort in their own studying field. Whereas, these basic science courses do not only occupy time for attending class, but also lead to more homework, more effort after the class. For example the medicine major already have to do a lot of homework, experiment, research, report, paper and so on in their specific courses. How could they spare effort on these additional courses? What's worse, the examinations of these courses make students more anxious. For those top students, they have to distract their attention to these courses to get a satisfactory score even though maybe some courses are difficult for them. For the rest, they also should try their best to pass these courses to get the credits.

Finally, learning these basic science courses in university cannot enlarge students' knowledge in other areas. On the one hand, students have learned the basic science courses in their middle school and high school, which have equipped them with the basic knowledge in various areas. Thus, there is no need to repeat this knowledge. On the other hand, if the professors teach something beyond the basic level, it may be too hard for the general students. In this case, this kind of teaching is not useful for the common students, which cannot be applied in daily life.

All the above mentioned reasons and examples demonstrate that it is unwise to require all the students have basic science courses in university. Students should concentrate on their specific area and make all effort to achieve rather than waste time on the other aspects.

The government has announced that it plans to build a new university. Some people think that your community would be a good place to locate the university. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of establishing a new university in your community. Use specific details in your discussion

Establishing a new university in my community may have positive effects along with the negative ones. Presently, it is hard to judge which part weigh more. So just analyze these two aspects and compare them relatively based on my personal opinion.

There is no doubt that building a new community brings abundant benefits. On the one hand, more educational opportunity is accessible. More students can realize their dreams of studying in colleague, learning some technical knowledge which can be used in career. Besides young students, those adults can also advance their academic study after work since the university is not far away from their home. For example, it is convenient for some office ladies learn something both useful and interesting at night in university, which leads their lives valuable and colorful.

On the other hand, the establishing of a new university promotes developments in this area. To meet the students' need in university, there will emerge more restaurants, shops, entertainment facilities which will also benefit the residents surrounding. In addition, the transportation will be more convenient. It is probably to newly set up bus stops nearby or even some extra bus route will be established. More people are attracted here, which will contribute to the economy flourishing in every aspect.

However, the short-comings cannot be neglected. First, it may destroy the environment around my community. Not locating in the city center, the scenery here is charming. Suppose a university will be built here, the daily life trash produced by this university is inevitable. Maybe the birds will no longer sing joyously and the rivers never run jubilantly again.

What's more, it may also influence residents’ life here. Considering large amounts of people floods into, the original peace will be broken. To give a concrete instance, some activities such as basketball competition held at night make noise unavoidably.

All the above mentioned factors are the potential advantages and disadvantages brought by the newly established university.

Audrey Hepburn, the best movie actress, the nicest female in the world, is an embodiment of beauty. She is always so attractive in screen whatever the role she plays, the elegant Princess Annie in Roman Holiday, the innocent angel in Always, the virtuous girl in War and Peace, the vivacious woman in My Fair Lady. Until now, my first impression about her marvelous beauty is still haunting around mind. Unlike other blond in Hollywood, what makes her outstanding is the unique graceful temperament rather than appearance. That's why even in 1993, the terminal of her life journey, it is still not exaggerated to compare her with a fairy, always being natural, pure and fresh, which cannot be erased by time.

Audrey Hepburn, the admired charitarian, is a symbol of love. Although being a super movie star, she never regards herself as someone special. On the contrary, she is considerate and obliging to everyone around her in daily life. What’s more, she devotes her last five years in humanitarian work, caring children in pain, struggling to survive, or fighting for basic human rights. Such a gentle, elder female, when facing difficulties, becomes brave and powerful. For example, she encouraged children in poverty never give up. Besides my love to Hepburn, there is another reason for my desire to meet her. Beauty is something that no one has ever stopped pursuing. There is no doubt that parents are someone who care about children most, devoting all their lives with sacrificial love. Everyone is an eternal little son or daughter in parents’ eyes rather than a successful businessman or a delicate office lady, being deeply loved all the time. Therefore it is natural and essential for people to be a good son or daughter with the following qualities in return..

Being considerate is the fundamental quality in my opinion. After working laboriously for a whole day, parents may feel exhausted. What makes it worse is that some mothers have to handle heavy housework. In this case, a good son or daughter is expected to help with the housework such as cleaning, cooking and so on. Considering parents' physical health is a quality which has not changed over time. Long before, Chinese children often help parents with the housework and some elder children even help to take care of the young sisters and brothers. While, in the modern society, except for the physical care, mental care for parents is also needed. For example, it will not take a lot of time and effort for children to have a talk with parents, listening to their voice, releasing the pressure and getting over the difficulties together.
