Some people hold the opinion that college or university education should be available only to good students. Others insist that university education should be open to all students, regardless their academic background. I agree with the former opinion. Good students always study very hard before they get the opportunity into a university and their high school grades are great! In contrary, poor students with low grades may be not as interested in studying as good ones. They should not be allowed to go to university.
If all students were allowed to go the university, it would be total disaster! First, the education resource is limited, under this situation, all universities will be soon saturated and education quality will diminish! Second, in the competitive job market, it is hard to find a job. Some gradated students cannot find any job just because they are constrained by their bad majors. also it is the case that good students may not find a job cater to their interests. The increasing number of unemployment severely interferes the harmony and stability of whole society.
University education are aimed at improve the profession and scientific knowledge of students. Good students are longing for a advanced education, they always study very hard to fulfill their high school classes with high grades. This win them the admission to dreamed universities. Thanks to the high quality education, after graduation some of them will be scientists , engineers, artists, politicians, etc.
If universities were open to all students, those who did not study hard in their high school and got poor grades are reluctant to learn and it is hard for them to keep the pace. By the way, No one can guarantee that the quality will not diminish. There will be cases that good students cannot go to interested classes. Or even get in the classes, it is hard to say they can be taught well!
In one word, in my opinion, University education should be available only to good students. Is it means that poor students do not have any opportunity to go to university? The answer, of course, is no. If they enhanced their academic background and were eager to learn, they would be accepted by universities!
