Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is only worth watching movies that can teach us something about real life.
A multitude of people live under the illusion that it is only worth watching movies that can teach us something about real life. However, from my perspective, it is a little bit hasty to reach such an assertion for the following reasons.
To begin with, there are some other kinds of movies, obviously, have their own value to be watched. The Sci-Fis are the typical representative of these movies. Throughout the history of film, from E.T. to Star Wars, from Harry Potter to The Lord of the Rings. Themes and characters of these films, without exception, teach audience about a various of virtues. When watching these Sci-Fis, we may experience friendship between human beings and the E.T. and inspired by Luke Skywalker, a unsophisticated boy who is continuing to pursue his dream and confront his fear. We may feel the spirit of yearning for freedom among people who are living in the Middle-earth and moved by the love between Harry Potter and his parents and friends. Even though the Sci-Fis can not teach us anything about the real life, we can learn from them about which noble virtues should be cherished in our life.
Apart from science fiction movies, comedies, which usually make our real life exaggerated, are also worth being watching. Psychologists suggest that watching comedies causes our body to release chemicals which help people relax. For instants, as a student, I have to devote most of my time to study on workdays. At the weekend, however, watching some delightful flicks such as Home Alone, can help me free myself from nervous tension. Such enjoyment is just what I seek for.
In addition, some cartoons are valuable too. Despite always having a happy ending, it is cartoon that help children easily understand the real life. The Lion King teaches children about the importance of strength and when watching Shrek, children may have a concept about what the true beauty is. Hence, these cartoons are worth watching.
In conclusion, not only are the movies which can teach us about real life worth watching, other films have somehow merits to be watched. |
