Television has destroyed communicationamong friends and family.


With the rapid development of digital technology, television iswidespread through out the world. Not only can we watch television at home butin the moving vehicle, such as taxi, bus, metro as well. As we need to connectwith the outside world, it takes much of our life time keeping eyes on thecolorful screen which is showing current news, hot stars, marvelous landscapeetc. and we enjoy ourselves. When we are absorbed in watching television,however, will it destroy the communication among friends and family?
After concerning the question above carefully and weighing pros andcons, I believe television do no harm to the communication among friends andfamily but sometimes even benefits. Why? If friends or family sit in front ofthe television, apparently, only the channel that everyone has interest in willbe chosen. Therefore, at the time they are watching, they at a very highprobability talk about what they have just seen. Opinions opposite to characterwill be discussed and happiness, experience related to the program will beshared. Although there is time that my family just stare at screen concentratedwhen they are seeing a movie, no one likes to be interrupted, they will discussthe characters, plots and background music afterwards.
Moreover, television can sometime promote friendship and harmony offamily. Once I invited some friends who barely know each other to my home. Atvery first, when I was preparing some drinks and snacks for them, it wasawkward that they just sat comfortably at the sofa silent because of hard to findsome topics to communicate. Nevertheless, no sooner than one of them suggestedturn on the television, the atmosphere changed. Words and laughter easily finda way to jump out of their mouth. Not until 15 minutes did they acquaint witheach other to a degree. Even many years later, they are still good friends.
In a word, television has not destroyed the communication amongfriends and family, on the contrary, it brings countless advantages ofestablishing a solid relationship.
