In order to become well-informed, one has to get information from different news resources.
Somehow, I agree with this statement that if we want to be well-informed, we should get information from different news resources. In this information explosion age, we are overwhelmed by large quantity of information and at the same time we are provided with various news resources, such as traditional media like newspapers, magazines and so on, or modern powerful information tool- the websites. We now have easy access to them and if we want to be a knowledgeable person, it’s better to check different news resources.
Firstly, a certain news resource just focuses on the certain aspects of news due to their coverage style. So it’s hard for us to get a full understanding about what’s happening indeed. For example, television broadcasts hold a different style from the newspaper. For the latter, it is sometimes able to cover the every detail of the events, from what causes the event to happen to how it is settled. But the former, especially in the news slash, it just announces what has happened without providing any details. So, the readers have to check different news resources to take hold of information.
Another reason why we should get information from different news resources is that sometimes the news resources can hardly handle events impartially. By consideration of national interests, to some degree, the media tends to speak in the nation’s standpoint rather than an objective one. For instance, if two countries adjacent to each other have some small friction out of border problem, then the media of their own parts just play up it in its own nations’ interests. What can we do then? Since we can not avoid this situation totally, then we can turn to the third party resources to obtain the truth.
I have to admit that sometimes it is a waste of time to check different news resources. It’s effective but not very efficient because it takes us much time. However, to those people who are always
confined to a certain kind of resource, they should shift to other ones if they want to be well-informed rather than mind-narrowed.
