29"Public figures such as actors, politicians, and athletes should expect people to be interested in their private lives. When they seek a public role, they should expect that they will lose at least some of their privacy."
Position:agree on the ideas, but we, the public, should focus more on their outstanding qualities and achievements.
Positive:
1、Many of us are indeed interested in the details in the daily life of public figures, from which we can be moved, excited, even courage, for someone thereof is our idol.
2、Intense media attention to the lives of public figures raises a presumption in the collective mind of the viewing or reading public that our public figures’ lives are far more interesting than our own.
3、The media consist of large corporations whose chief objective is to maximize shareholder profit. In pursuit of that objective, the media are simply giving the public what they demand—a voyeuristic look into the private lives of public figures.
However, public figures should protect their privacy from excessive openness or even some evil intentions. Simultaneously, especially when something of them is unwilling to be overt, we should respect their feelings.
