我要好好写作文
09.03.29 Do you agree or disagree students will not use printed books anymore.
According to websites and newspapers, there are a variety of predictions of the presence of printed books in the future. Many have strong belief about the solid footholds of printed books in the foreseeable future. Others who oppose this opnion, on the other hand, argue that within time printed books is absolutely going to disappear from modern society. Personally, I side with the latter and will provide concrete reasons as listed below.
The first plain truth, I’m presenting here, is that on no account can we ignore the trend that electronic books are gradually taking the old-fasioned books’ place in various fields of daily life. We have already abundantly benefit from smartphones and portable computers – for instance, Iphone and Ipad from the Apple company – since they enable us to read different types of e-files . At Ipad’s releasing day, consistent with this idea, a news commentator just slightly exaggerated when he calimed “We are entering into a paperless age right now”. In addition, compared with the conventional printed books, e-books certainly have an advantage in terms of information storage and search. For me, I usually store hundreds of books in my Ipad and only need to type in several key words to search anything I want. And I can’t imagine how much time and vigor it woud cost to search a certain article in thausands of similar printed books.
Furthermore, behind my preference, lies an equally significant fact that support for electronic books is not only a matter of convenience but also of environmental protection. An estimated 400 miliion tons of paper was consumed for the whole world in 2009, which seriously deteriorated the situation of forest conservations. Printed books made from wood pulp are – so at least it seems to me – somewhat a murder of the global environment, concerning with undergound water, air moiture as well as carbon dixiode. Apparently, to resure forest and the earth, people all over the world feel like choosing other sources for knowledge instead of conventional books.
A big library in Rome, for example, is fosting a new project that will scan and restore the entire book in its library by digitizing them.
Last but not least, it doesn’t mean to wipe conventional books out of history when advocating for e-books as a subsitituting source of knowldege. Existing books should be accamulated as antiques like old horse carriages, indicating technological development that human being has achived. Also, they are supposde to function as a reminder of protecting trees to the next generation.
In conclusion, despite some minor drawbacks, e-books completely have great advantages over printed books, which provide evidence of students not using printed books anymore. As Jules Verne says “Anythig one can imgine, other man can make real”, I imagine that one day there will be no paper books in almost every school and thanks to scientific advances, I’m definitely convinced that my dream will come true in the near future. |
