the history
We began our musical "career" in the early 80's. Through different formations and projects we eventually realized that there was no suitable label around that was interested in our kind of work and music. Thus, in 1987, we established Cold Meat Industry. We had a number of friends we knew were making great music, and began to release their material. Quite soon we discovered a lot of other formations along with new aspirants good enough to release.


the concept
To find new interesting Scandinavian groups has more and more become what people expect from us and as our major challenge it is the main reason why we are still developing this label. Working with scandinavian groups only has made it easier to communicate; to fulfill ideas and visions as well as to assist with other facilities like studios, sleeves, promotion etc.


the future
An unwritten chapter. Our hope is to continue to expand our work. To find new interesting groups, to make new friends and to keep on developing our label in any direction we may find interesting and challenging.

While one Heid member is focusing on sonic extremism with Survival Unit, thee others started up

L.E.A.K. This project challenges every notion that a lot of contemporary industrial music is

haphazardly thrown together in the bedrooms of adolescent prodigies. The album is recorded at the

legendary EMS studio in Stockholm, the home of many acclaimed electro-acoustic composers, and

applies controlled ways of composition such as serialism as well as elements of improvisation and

random techniques. The result is a sometimes disturbing sometimes beautiful, but always

breathtaking journey to the heart of darkness. One of those rare moments proving that structure

and chaos are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

Like clockwork, every year Cold Meat Industry salutes a debutant that seems to have been

spoonfed with SPK and Dead Can Dance. Think back, think of Desiderii Marginis, Sephiroth, and

Coph Nia. And let there be no misunderstanding, this year's find Letum adheres to this tradition

as well. Tranquil soundscapes paired with gothic chorals and nature sounds turns this album into

an offering that is certain to appeal to fans of the Raison d'Etre and Ildfrost side of the CMI

discography. What Letum may sacrifice in originality, they more than well compensate in

commitment for the cause: to maintain Sweden's reputation as the foremost purveyor of top notch

dark ambience.

Since 10 year now Megaptera has spread their plague of darkness, diseases and death. Starting

with a tape on the CMI sub-label Sound Source who made way for several CDs, vinyls and numerous

appearances on compilation albums. Now, ten years later, ending were they once started; on CMI.

This new and 2000 copies limited double CD is nothing new, but a nostalgic retrospect of an era.

Featuring the first LP, released on the obscure Vinyl Attack in 200 copies and their first CD

released on the Italian label Kronotop + the necessary bonus tracks

The combined efforts of three individuals resulted in a dark, menacing, and unyielding concoction

that was as frightful as the movies that were the primary source of inspiration since day one.

Dialogues, monologues, and even entire scenes from various videos, have been used in their songs,

sometimes illustrating the music, often illustrating the movie itself. As the years passed, so

did the Magnus Pettersson and Mikael Svensson, which left Peter Nyström to hoist the black flag

by himself, though often assisted by other musicians such as The Protagonist. Despite the changes

in the band, Megaptera have always remained true to their vision: to blend dark atmospheric

sounds with machinelike rhythms, thereby creating a soundtrack to your worst nightmares. No

political opinions were expressed by the band, nor were any crypto-philosophical ideas inherent

in the music. Instead Megaptera worked like a mirror - a reflection of an age where insanity,

violence, war, deceit, death, and disease are brought to our very own livingrooms through the

artificial eye of the TV screen.

Old tales most often derive from popular tradition, sometimes even seeming to force moral

prejudice over poor uneducated citizens. The concept of the three piggies and the wolf can maybe

be seen as the victory of goodness and how knowledge and cunning overcomes sheer brutality.

However, disguises and cheats are the melody of today. Who is really the pig and who the wolf?

Presenting a wide spectra in sound and form, Nod here corrodes every aspect of spastic intensity.

Up for grabs are a schizoid, strange but well composed journey through bleak bitterness, but also

a cold meeting with frantic technical limitpushing power ready to split your head. Spoken as well

as screamed vocals are delightfully present, both male and female, making it as dramatic as

Shakespeare. An ugly world without hope opening up, laughter takes it´s toll.

the person behind the project, Magnus Sundström. By participating on a number of prestigious

compilation albums, giving a couple of well-timed concerts in Europe, and putting up enticing

musical samples for public scrutiny on the web, The Protagonist has been turned into a name

mentioned with utmost respect by connoisseurs of eclectic matters. The classically designed music

draws a lot of inspiration from cinematic and literary sources, leaving little doubt about the
