In the lecture, the speaker provides three evidences to contradict the idea presents in passage that dinosaurs were endotherms.

First of all, the passage argue that dinosaur fossils have been discovered in polar support it's idea, for only endotherms could survival in that kind of cold climates. While the speaker points out Polar Regions were warm enough which even not endotherms could live in that temperature. With the climates in Polar Regions gradually became cold, dinosuars migrated to more warm places. In that case, fossils found in Polar Regions dose not necessarily indicate whether dinosaurs were endotherms or not.

Secondly, in terms of the fact that leg position of the dinosuars similar to endotherms metioned in the passage, again, the speaker didn't think this could prove dinosaurs were endotherms, and she give a reasonable explaination that dinosaurs evolve to legs underneath the body because their body were too heavy to support with legs' position aside.

Finally, the speaker gaves a direct evidence, the growth rings, right on the dinosaurs' bones to contradict the supposition in the passage concerns with dinosaurs' bones dense with Haversian canals. The growth rings indicate dinosaurs only grow in warm weathers, when the weather became cold, their growth stopped. But endotherms' growth would not be affected by temperature fluctuation.

In the lecture, the speaker retorts theories in the passage one by one with evidences and reasonable suppositions. Thus made the passage's assertions regarding how "the great house" was used becoming unconvincing.

The passage's first theory is that the great house was purely residential. But the speaker cast doubt on the allocation of rooms' functions. He point out that if the great house was used for living, there must be enough fire places for families' daily cooking. However, the number of fire place turns out to support 10 families, while the number of room can serve 100 families to live in.

The second theory in the passage is that the great house was used to store food. But the speaker don't think so, he points out that the excavation of the great house found little hint to support there had store large amount of maize. What's more the big place can not be all used to store food, so it must have other usage.

The passage's last theory is concerning the great house may be used as a ceremony center. However, the speaker contradict this idea by claim that through the excavation of the mound, old materials contain not only broken pots but also many building materials, it seems like that the big mound was simply a trash mound which have not relate to ceremonial behaviors, for maybe the workers who built the great houses throw theses building material together with their meal left over at there.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The best way to improve the quality of education in a country is to increase teachers’ salaries

Money can solve many problems, but not anything. So I disagree with the statement. I believe the best way to improve education quality vary from different situations.

Admittedly, sometimes to increase teachers' salaries do help to improve education quality. In China, many elementary school located in remote places often have to face embarrassing out of teachers. In fact this kind of school rarely has constant teachers, because the slight incomes can not afford their life. Teachers are basically teach for public welfare, once they wants to get marry or need money to support parents, they have to find a more profitable even if they don’t want to.

However, still in many other situations which the salaries are not major factor prevent education from improving, give the teacher a raise dose not necessarily enhance the education quality. For example, some professors in university devote most of time in studying their research projects. They working day and night explore the science, but forget prepare the classes or ignore the communication with students at class. This phenomenon demonstrates it is university's education management system still remains to improve instead of teachers salaries. Only when the school attaches importance to the teaching quality can education quality being improved.

Furthermore, the contents of classes also important to education quality. Since students will get tired about all-theoretic curriculum. It is especially effective when school insert classes like music, painting, PE between the academic studies. Students can get relax from those classes, as well as broaden their view which do benefit both emotional and physical. Hence, if the problem of poor education is because the design of the curriculum, the best way to enhance education turn out to variegate the classes.

All in all, we should take practical situation into the most important place, try to find out which is the major impact, but never narrowly contribute to certain reason like teachers’ salaries or so.

In the lecture, the speaker retort ideas in the passage one by one with convincing evidences and reasonable suppositions which made the passage unsounded.

First, regarding the idea that America customers would not pay any attention to eco-certification present in the passage. The speaker points out that American customer distinguish different advertisings, they always have confidence in authoritative certification, and there are arising consciousnesses of environmental protection between American people, so this kind of international eco-certification should probably abstract more customers.

Second, the passage argue that customers may frown on price rising caused by expenses of obtain eco-certification. While the speaker doesn’t think so, he claims that as long as the price difference less than 5%, it would not take the impact factor. That is to say, even obtain a eco-certification make the price of wood products a little higher, the customer still wouldn't refuse to consider buy it .

Third, in terms of American companies' target customers are mainly domestic consumers, so that they have no necessary to obtain eco-certification as foreign companies mentioned in the passage. The speaker indicate that the fact is American companies could confront foreign companies' product competition. If they don't pursue eco-certification, those foreign companies can take the advantage of their eco-certification products capture the market.

In the lecture, the speaker retorts the ideas in the passage one by one with a series of reasonable evidences and suppositions, which made the ideas in the passage unconvincing.

First, the passage argue that evidence shows chevalier once borrowed lots of money from a Swiss merchant, and suppose this prove that instead of a rich man chevalier was really poor. But the speaker give a reasonable explanation to it by claim that since chevalier spent a great deal of money on parties and gambling, he always needs lots of cash, therefore he must sell his asset first to convert it into money which the process needs to wait a certain period of time; During that period of time, in order to keep enjoying parties and gambling, chevalier has to borrow money.

Second, in terms of the contents about chevalier's converse with the writer in the memoir, the passage claims that because his memoir was written many years after the conversation, it cannot be that kinds of accurately. However, the speaker don’t think so, she points out that chevalier has a habit of keeping note on which everyday had happened, so it is likely that he kept the notes about the conversation many years before wrote it into the memoir.

Third, the speaker claims that chevalier don’t lie about his escape from the prison. Though, according to the passage, chevalier may bribed the jailers since he has many powerful friends who can help, the speaker indicates that there were more prisoners whose friends even more powerful but failed to left the jail. What's more, evidence shows that after chevalier's escape, the jail repaired its ceilings which also support the possibility that he was escape from the jail through the ceiling by himself.
