A teacher’s outputs are supposed to be composed of several parts, including students’ scores, his research productions and other achievements, such as improvement of students’ good qualities, promotion of students’ comprehensive abilities, and so on. As teaching students is the first duty of a teacher, I believe a teacher’s performance should primarily be weigh by students’ performance, which not only consists of study but also other aspects.

To begin with, what students can learn from the teacher is what a teacher really can give. Therefore, no matter how the teacher is intellectual or has a universal scope of knowledge, if he has no skill to impart his knowledge to his students, he definitely is not a qualified teacher. There are indeed some persons possessing expert title and authentically having an extinguished insight in his research field, but failed to pass it to his students. That will hamper the development of his research to a great extent for lacking of successors. On the other hand, teaching is an art. Any dogmatic pedagogy makes students lose their interests and keeps them away from thorough understanding of what they study. Maybe a plain researcher, whereas having a good skill of didactics, can enlighten a plenty of students and guide them into an intriguing extensive world of study. Some of his students would make great contributions to society in future. That is a competent teacher should do.

Unfortunately, there is a not very proper phenomenon in society nowadays, in which colleges impel teachers to chase research productions and study findings with majority of their time and energy. Teachers’ recruitment, promotion, determining titles, payment and other aspects are linked to the number of their research dissertations, but in result, by ignoring the quality of teaching and education. A teacher and students have less feeling exchange or life instructions as in old days, yet are full of economic analysis of a project. That is pity for us losing our valuable traditional connection between teachers and students, in which a teacher was considered as a father of students.

In the final analysis, we hope teachers, especially in colleges, pay more attention to students themselves, instead of research achievements. That is the basic aim of a college. Thus I approve of the idea that a teacher should be paid according to how well students perform.

In the past, we always have been instructed to despise those flattering people who took great pains to kiss up to rich or powerful men. Nowadays many examples of successful persons indicate that a significant figure in people’s life may rapidly boost their career, even totally change their lives. So many people support the statement due to the craving the realization of a dream, which always looks so distant in reality especially of new generations. Admittedly, a good relationship shows a great influence in one’s career some times, whereas an expected result definitely comes from the good qualities of one’s own instead of outside factors.

First of all, I don’t deny good relationships are important in people’s life. However, it is elemental that a person has comprehensive abilities to demonstrate his valuation to others. These kinds of abilities are composed of intellect, knowledge and experience. Without the basis of professional abilities and outstanding talent, I don’t think any inane flattering actions can lure a rational person. I reckon that this sort of intention will lead to an adverse result. Thus, in my opinion, if you want to relate well to others, you should prove you are valuable. If others admire you and rely on you, they can actually trust you. For this reason, I believe it is proper to study hard and more but not to pay excessive attention to relationships at the expense of education at school.

In addition, I don’t deny the emotion quotient is essential to people’s success, but intelligence quotient plays an equal role in people’s life. After people realized intellect can not judge a person’s overall capacities, there is a trend that people play up emotion quotient but play down intelligence quotient. Yet again it is a bias. So I appreciate all-around development of one’s abilities. In terms of at school, I think studying is the first duty of students, who should make all efforts to improve their intelligence. As far how to master the skills to relate well with others, it can be waited after going into the society. And for the judgment of teenagers is not mature, too early to consider those things dealing with all sorts of relationships maybe bad for their health growth.

When I am in front of this topic, I am wondering how many days I didn’t have a dinner with my parents, maybe several months, maybe more. I know the busy daily routine separate myself from them. I even do not remember what we are talking about when I last went home, because so less time at home and I left in haste. I definitely agree that we should pay more time with our parents, at least eat meals together regularly. For I know what our parents expert is so little, no more than a sight of we are in health and a message of we are all right. I know maybe the hopes of our parents are high before we grow up, while after we left their side, they more care about our safe instead of a success.

I believe we should arrange more opportunities to eat meal with our parents, because they are the persons who really care about us, and we should not ignore them. I know that, when we grew up, parents and we are two different generations. We are chasing different goals in life and career. Conflicts and disagreement may be raised, and parents always consider having a responsibility to teach us their ideas and judgment. I don’t know where is any evidence to show that it is less important of those abilities than before. Whether this type of thoughts comes from the modern visual media have been boosted for decades and have penetrated thorough into every parts of our life, so make people consider the effect of reading and writing decreases with the fall trend of printed media? Or because new methods of communication like cell phones and internet have profoundly change our pattern of life, which makes the applied scope of writing and reading less than before. But all of those changes exemplified before would not impair the importance of the ability of reading and writing. The reasons are:

First and foremost, literals are the most essential parts in people’s life and the process of maturity. It is not only a common language used by people to convey information, but more important, the most essential way to form our mind. Our thoughts and ideas mostly constitute of words and sentences. If we don’t have a good capable of reading and writing, it will be a great hamper to establish a good intelligence. Some people will say that listening and speaking also can improve the mastery of humans’ language. And with the development of society, it seems that using speaking is more popular than writing. I don’t deny listening and speaking are necessary in people’s mind improvement. But in principle, reading and writing represent a more advanced mastery of language and make the communication more deep and free. On the other hand, in high level, an excellent speaking, such as a speech, definitely bases on a strong skill of writing. So I believe the ability of reading and writing is essential to people no matter what time it is.

In history, there are numerous of discoveries and inventions emerged. Some of them improved the benefits of human beings, such as medicines, vehicles and telephones. But some others, like explosive, poison composites or the technique of feigning, give negative impacts, even great devastation to the people. So some anti-technique persons claim that the advance in science and technology actually damage our society. And many think that some negative impacts or bad consequences should be blamed on those scientists who discover them. In my opinion, I strongly disagree with the idea, for I believe that the development of science is unavoidable and any kind of finds and discoveries is nurture, they are two-side coins which have advantages and disadvantages at the same time. The point is how we use them.
To begin with, all the inventions, as far as I am concerned, are inevitable in history. From the most first, our genius ancestors found using wheels to accelerate our travelling speed, to the manufacture of carriage and take advantage of horses, to the present time, we can drive cars speedy in a high-way. That is all the spontaneous development of society and science. We should not deny the achievement of them but think we ought to stay at a low level of technology. So we should not blame those scientists, no matter whether or not their discoveries are good or bad to the people. If there are some discoveries in the future will indeed extinguish our whole ethnic group, I consider that is the only ending of human beings but not an occasionally evitable mistake by some scientists.
Furthermore, if it can be say that some scientists incur some bad consequences to humans, like TNT explosive being widely used as a big weapon to kill people, but it is hard to say they should take responsibility to the misuse of their discoveries. Because I believe that any finds and discoveries is nurture, and the point is not the judgment of the science itself but is the judgment of who and how to use them. A fatal explosive will engender a big casualty of innocents by terrorists, on the contrary, can exterminate camps of terrorists. Therefore, the indiscriminate announcement of blaming scientists is superficial and irresponsible.
