The following appeared in the summary of a study on headaches suffered by the residents of Mentia.
"Salicylates are members of the same chemical family as aspirin, a medicine used to treat headaches. Although many foods are naturally rich in salicylates, for the past several decades food-processing companies have also been adding salicylates to foods as preservatives. This rise in the commercial use of salicylates has been found to correlate with a steady decline in the average number of headaches reported by participants in our twenty-year study. Recently, food-processing companies have found that salicylates can also be used as flavor additives for foods. With this new use for salicylates, we can expect a continued steady decline in the number of headaches suffered by the average citizen of Mentia."

头疼率会继续下降。因为过去20年的研究发现，加入了salicylates的食品被食用后，头疼率下降了。而现在salicylates的用途扩大了，所以会让更多人的头疼得到缓解。

○2头痛下降是否与食品有关。应该分析他们的饮食提供证据，并且排除其他可能性：他们是因为其他更有效的药物或治疗方法。
○3虽然食品中含有，但是含量极其微量。未必能够治疗。人们使用健康食品的趋势增加，含有防腐剂和香料的食品未必消费量大。况且不是所有头疼都能用这种药物成分解决。所以头疼数量未必会下降。

(1)Salicylates are members of the same chemical family as aspirin does not mean that it has the same funtion as aspirin does.
(2)The validity and accuracy of the study ifs questionable. No evidence is showed that the study was conducted with valid data gathering and scientific analysis, which makes the result of the study unconvincing. Thus, it seems too hasty for the author to assumes the possible correlation amounts to a causal relationship between the applying of salicylates and decline of headaches.
(3) That Salicylates can be used as flavors additives for foods doesn't mean that it will be generally applied in food production and make evident effect on consumers.
(4)All the conclusions and assupmtions could not fit the situation is Mentia.
(6)Sali8cylates are preservatives, which can bring about sideeffect, should be applied carefully.

(1) The correlation between the rise in the commercial use of S and the steady decline in the average number of headaches in the report is not causal effect relationship, since other factors may also contribute to the decline.
How the participants are selected is open to question.
(2) It is not known whether it is the naturally rich amount of S in foods or the additional S as preservatives that causes the decline of headaches.
(3) The new use of S as flavor additives for foods cannot necessarily lead to the steady decline of headaches in Mentia.
(4) The author fails to consider the negative effect if S is widely used as preservatives or flavor additives.
