So significant is(are) healthy eating habits that an increasing number of people are placing emphasis on them. Recently, the debate over whether advertising is the most important cause of unhealthy eating habits aroused wild public attention. People's views are apparently divergent. Some people hold favorable attitude toward it, due to considerable misleading messages in the advertisements, while others have a completely contrary opinion. As far as I am concerned, advertising is definitely not responsible for the poor eating habits, which can be proved by the following reasons. In the first place, under no circumstance can people deny that nowadays more and more attention is paid on health eating habits. Therefore companies will spare no efforts to offer healthy products and promote healthy effects, for the sake of meeting consumers’ demands. For instance, people prefer low-fat milk which is healthier than full-fat milk. Then the advertisers may show customers how much fat their milk contains, which plays a crucial role in good eating habit, so that they can obtain more consumers. Therefore, companies now realize the importance of healthy food and habits, which leads to more productivity of healthy food. In the second place, it is undisputable that some unhealthy food tastes extremely good. However, these companies trend to merely emphasize on the good taste in the advertisement, instead of convincing people the food is healthy. Thus, actually the advertisements do not lie to consumers or encourage them to ignore the negative impact of the food. The universally acknowledged brand KFC may illustrate my point more profoundly. The advertisements of KFC emphasize the great contributions to having a good time when you eat delicious chicken with your friends. This message is truth and never lies to people that KFC benefits health. So, advertising absolutely has little relation with promoting unhealthy eating habits. Ultimately, there is no denying that people pick up the eating habits mostly from the traditions or from family, which is undoubtedly difficult to be changed by advertisements. Some family like eating vegetables, while others prefer pork, beef, and so forth. So, even the advertisers who lead people to buy unhealthy food feel reluctant to persuade people to change their habits formed by traditions. From what has been discussed above, we may now draw the conclusion safely that it is totally wrong to say unhealthy eating habits is resulted from the advertisements, which actually makes tremendous contributions to promoting healthy food and does not force consumers to believe the unhealthy food is healthy. Furthermore, in order to gain a good habit, people should not(?) place emphasis on exercise too much.
