答案给的是A，我觉得A，B都不对啊。因为文中说多细胞生物的进发在这个时期是非常快啊？

答案来自这句话：

这里要分清这个why did it里的it是指的上一段的rapid origin and diversification of animals
然后后面那句话说道多细胞的形成是个相对简单的过程。
结合前面那个文具，为什么多动物产生的如此晚。 再结合一点点生物知识。 多动物是多细胞组成。 可以得出，作者间接地问到了为什么多细胞的演变这么缓慢。。。

吐血了。。。当时做这篇的时候，看到A明显没有，就直接选了A。。。没想到B选项如此纠结。。。

Why did animal life evolve so quickly和Why did it take so long for multicellular organisms to develop是不同的。。。
前者是动物进化快，后者是花长时间产生多细胞组织。
或者简单的理解成前者是(动物→→→)这种过程，后者是(→→→动物)的过程。

我觉得你要搞清楚一个问题：在explosion时期 确实多细胞生物发展的很快  包括之后juliago问到的Why did animal life evolve so quickly? 这句话  都是在说explosion时期的情况 事实上explosion指的就是寒武纪的生物大爆发
但是Why did it occur so late in the history of Earth? 的意思是为什么explosion这么晚才发生   也就是说在explosion之前很长一段时间 生物发展的很缓慢 这也就说明了B是正确的
至于A选项 明显是不对的  The origin of multicellular forms of life seems a relatively simple step compared to the origin of life itself这句话只是提到了 simple step这样一个事实  但是并没有解释为什么
