With the inflation and expansion of modernization and urbanization, the employment of people becomes more and more challenging and difficult. When it comes to the question of which kind of work makes people happier, I would say that difficult work helps people improve their abilities and offers them more satisfaction.

First and foremost, challenging work provides people more chances of in-depth thinking. As we all know that challenging work is always consist of several easy works that interrelated with each other. On the one hand, if people do tedious and repeated easy jobs for long period of time, they would lose their enthusiasm for new and different elements that they would have learned during creative operations on difficult work. On the other hand, most scientific research involves challengeable and difficult work that ought to be fulfilled with great perseverance, which calls for the formal experiences in hard works.

In addition, challenging work offers people more satisfaction than easy work does. Taking me myself for example, when I'm writing programs for lab, I feel very satisfied if the code is tough and challengeable and feel less content if the other way around. Easy jobs always mean dull jobs that make people depressed and at a loss. Further, when I fail with doing difficult jobs, I feel fine because it is difficult and it is fairly reasonable for me to lose. However, if I fail in dealing with some easy ones, I would be blamed for quite a good reason that I didn’t focus on it. In that sense, finding some convoluted issues to deal with not only improves my abilities, but also offers me a protection from being blamed by my boss.

To sum up, though easy work has its own applications in modern society, challenging work makes people feel happier in that it enhances people’s abilities from without and changes one’s altitude towards work from within.
