I agree with the statement that some scientists are responsible for the negative impacts they have made.

Admittedly, there are countless positive examples of science rapidly changes our lifestyle and broadens our horizon. From alchemy to chemistry, from a geocentric universe to a heliocentric, from believing that deluge was the visitation of God to modern meteorology, it is without doubt that scientists have propelled human civilization forward in the course of human history.

However, with the world modernization and multi-polarization undergoing profound changes, the development of science is indeed amidst twists and turns. Could any spectacle, for instance, be more grimly ironic than that of environmentalist using science to purify the water, while close at hand, factories dumping toxic waste into the river? Serious retrospection and introspection should be carried out as what have those scientists done during these years and they should be responsible for all the impacts they've generated.

Moreover, inappropriate inventions and ideas that scientists created have not only constituted detrimental elements on the environment, but also killed thousands of, even millions of lives during the world war. Maybe the scientists who invent the plane never realize that it could be used to be weapons of the dictator; maybe the scientists who invent the nuclear resources thought it could never applied in wars. Yet we should be fully aware that even when most of scientists would be honored and reward, the one who invent weapons for their own profits should be cursed by devil.

To sum up, although some scientists ought to be honored and rewarded, some of them should be responsible for the negative impacts they've made. We should fully aware that science, which is a double-edged weapon, can be used both for good and evil. Only in that way will we be ready for the challenges and opportunities in the future.
