The listening material refutes the drawbacks of the communal online encycolopedias that are presented in the reading material.8 g( U$ x. `, T; k7 l
First, according to the reading material, there are many inaccurate information or even errors in the online encyclopedia due to the lack of academic credientials of the contributors. Traditional encyclopedias are more accurate. However, the listening material has a point that traditional encyclopedias are not perfect either, and the errors remain in them for decades. (passage的描述可以少一些,听力的内容可以详细一些)

Also, the author maintains that the online encyclopedias are vulnerable from hacking and even if the original information on the online encyclopedias is right, it could be changed. In contrast, the lecturer talks about two ways that could prevent hacking. One is to set some crucial facts to read-only formats. The other is to have some special editors to monitor the changes made to the encyclopedia and delete the malicious changes.(很详细!)

Finally, the writer continues to complain that the encyclopedia focus on many trivial and popular topics which could creat a false impression of what is important and what is not important. On the contrary, the professor thinks the wider coverage of topics reflect people's diverse interests, unlike the traditional encyclopedias, whose topics are selected only by scholars. And the wide coverage feature of the online encyclopedias is not a demerit but the strongest benefit.

The reading material has a point that American wood companies will not try to obtain the ecocertification as companies in other countries do. However, the listening material have a totally different view on this: American wood companies would try to receive ecocertification.

First, according to the reading, American customers would not trust the advertising claims in general, so they would probably not value or even pay much attention to the ecocertification labels. However, the lecturer refutes this point by saying American customers treat advertisements differently. Despite their apathy toward the claims by the companies themselves, they tend to believe the ecocertification issued by an independent consumer agency.

Also, the author thinks that the American customers would prefer products whose prices are to products with an ecocertification. In contrast, the lecturer refutes this by saying if the prices of two products are more or less the same, customers would bring other factors such as ecological friendliness into consideration. Even if the product with ecocertification has a little higer price which is caused by obtaining the certification than those without, the consumer would choose ecological friendly product.

Finally, the writer has a point that American customers are not interested in products with ecocertification. Since most American wood companies sell their prodcuts within America, there is no need for them to obtain ecocertifications. However, the professor concluds American customers have interests in products with ecocertification. He goes on add foreign companies might crowd into the American market with their products with ecocertification. If so, American companies would lose their competitiveness. Thus, it is important for American companies to get ecocertification.
