这篇立论会相对简单一些,是一个假设性命题,

第一.  人们经常会提到要返回到过去的一个年代里面, 这里他们是把这个年代定义为OLD GLORY DAYS,. 这是可以理解的. 因为人的心理上倾向于对于自己没有经历过的东西进行理想化的过程,而在人们印象里面, 在过去,人之间关系更为紧密, 对人的劳动更为尊重,而在今天随着压力的日见增大, 心里负担过重, 人成为机械化的工具,都使得人们有一定的怀旧倾向.

第二, 虽然可以理解, 但是人们还是接受这现代科技所带给他们的恩惠, 科技教育,医疗,思想的解放进步无疑在很多方面都解放了被舒服的人, 延伸了人的触角到各个领域,扩大了人的视野.所以现代人是没有愿意返回那个年代的,即使返回,也会于那个时代格格不入,走向鼓励和崩溃.

第三, 当今的社会问题是不可否认的, 具体的例子太多,我就不说了. 只有有效的解决这些问题,才能更好的解决人们的需要, 困惑,对无论当前一代还是下一代起到积极作用.

People today seem to indulge in a paradoxical locution. They complain the evil of modern society while enjoying all the conveniences provided by modern technology and technological advancement, they feel despair over the increase of criminal rate, drug abuses and environmental pollution, yet, given the choice, no one today would prefer to live in any other time.

Although it appears to be paradoxical on the surface for people to make the above statement, it does present the psychological concernment and the bewilderment of modern people today. In the old glory time, the interdependence among family and group members are intimate which enable people the full possibility of enjoying compassion, love and care from each other. Technology is only on the fledging level, although both the working condition and productive efficiency is unparallel with that of today’s, the true craftsmanship instill people a sense of personal achievement instead of a servant fixed to machines as what people today frequently complain. Due to the comparatively bland social problems existed before; people idolized the old days as a paradise in which innocent people live a jocund, tranquil life.


If we examine into the underlying essence of their argument, we would see that people really tend to idolize the old glory days which actually overshadowed in the rosy mist of reminiscence and melancholy. Modern societies do pose severe detrimental problems to people’s psychology as well as living conditions, but no one seems too hard to be unsurpassed. We tend to feel that our sense of responsibility and intimacy towards our families and friends is on the verge of diminishing because of fast peace of today’s society and the wiliness to communicate with them through speedy and efficient way as well. But I would argue that being equipped with modern communicative tools, we should on better position that our ancestors to enjoy over the frequency of communication and if failed to do so, it is the people themselves who should be blamed instead of technology itself. Other point we should be conscious of is that modern technologies do reveal us an amazing world, which is utterly different from the old days. We are accessible to every corner of the world through the uses of satellite and Internet. We no longer thrilled over diseases considered lethal by out ancestors since the advancement in medical technology has increase efficiency in medical treatment and thus greatly prolong people’s life expectancy. We evaluate events and academic achievement from a better rational and scientific standpoint instead of directed and pressed by superstition or religious or political forces. In my point of view, no matter in the aspect of physical fitness, psychological well-being or ideological actualization, we all leap a step forward than our ancestors and that is why no one actually want to trace back to the glory, old days since people are rendered more power over controlling their own destiny and attaining freedom.

Fully appreciating the benefits of today should not blind us to observe the pressing social problems that pester us. The increase of criminal rate, youth delinquency, drug abuses and under-age sexual behaviors seem to accompany with the development of society hand by hand. What is more, the environmental problems caused by the development of modern world deserve our focus since any attempt to passive neglect their consequences would be destructive. It is true that we are blessed to be born in this age and it is also understandable to for human nature to idolize what has gone, but willingly or not, the best thing we can do now is to cherish the ole heritage passed down by our ancestors and at the same time, focus on solve the social problem to establish a good-than-ever world for ourselves as well as our next generation.
