Have you ever read a novel in the corner of the library for a whole day?Have you ever shared your reading experience with your friends?Have you ever found that you view issues from a variety of perspectives since you keep reading? If you have never had such experience, you would never know how great it is if your school buy more books for the library.
The first point I want to make is that ,compared to computers, books are accessible to all of the students. As we can see,by our daily experience, a sum of money can buy a number of books-such as novels, periodicals, referrences and etc. However, the same amount of money can only afford to purchase several computers, since in our society the price of computers are much higher than books.Thereby, if the university use the money paying for setting computers, only a few students who come from the wealthy and well-connected families , can really benifit from it. Nevertheless, If we pay those money for the books,we can have a large quantities of books ,which also can be varied in categories. As our library is built in order to facilitate every students, rather than a special group of students,we should buy books.
Aside from the argument above, most students reap more benifits from reading books than computers.Take myself for example, I am a devoted fan of the novel of Twillight, and I am so crazy about it that I keep reading it again and again.I can tell you almost everything about that book whether it is about the plot or the characteristics or anything else.Through doing that,I surperisingly find that I have improved my reading skills as well as known more about American campus life, at the same time.Reading English passages are never a difficult task to me anymore. If back then,I used the computer to do those things,I would have read for a moment then go to play computer games or chat with people online.Although , reading is not of paramount importance to every students ,at the very least,it is an integral part of learning seems to me.
Admittedly, we can use computers to do numbers of things, like watching movies, sending emails ,even playing games online. But in fulfilling our long-term goals ,reading books take precedence over anything else . By the same token, our college library should make choices for the sake of facilitating students'studying, as most people claim. As a result, in the final analysis, I prefer my school to get more books for the library. |
