Is it easier to be a success in the past than it is today?
It is not surprising deny that many people aspire( for) to and regard a success as a crucial element in their lives. But a question also follows that is it easier to be successful in the past than it is today? I contend that it is harder to be successful today due to the increase (increasing) in the number of people, the change in the definition of success, and the reform of (in) the technology.
At the beginning, it is obvious that the increasing population profoundly encumbers success. In China, population growth still (remains) profess to be a serious problem. Currently, the number of students applying for the same high school or university has more than doubled. A desirable position once being competed (for) by three employees is probably contested by five now. Therefore, competitions may become much more intense in the next several decades on condition accompanying with the continuing growth population.
Additionally, the explanation for success also impinges(affects) the possibility to succeed. At present, with the gap between the rich and poor widening, more (an increasing number of) people twisted the meaning of success as attaining one’s purpose at any cost, (which means) even in evil or illegal ways. For instance, some people slander their co-workers for promotion. Corporations bribe government officials for a biased(preferable) treatment in competition with other companies. In these situations, a an unfair competition environment is considerably (compromised ) formed and thus it is more difficult to be successful today.
In the final analysis, technology development obstructs the way to success. For example, the location of universities is an important consideration by many high school undergraduates since it is relatively difficult to acquire the information about a university which is far away from home. However, with the advent of Internet, every student can search any information about any university, which escalates the competitiveness of universities with good reputation, even they are a thousands of miles away. Hence, sophisticated technology may not benefit to success. (科技的优越性这样讲来不好吧)
In conclusion, success is not any easier to attain now than ever before.
