5  D   (我一开始选的A,但是想想一个人的circumstance of life and career 不能用obscure,不出名来形容吧)

1.The ideas expressed in the art ……

B
————————————————————————————
2.In the nineteenth century, composers exhibiting……

D
2.make their views about music known,

————————————————————————————
3 Writhers typically do not……

E
————————————————————————————
5.Carleton would still rank among ……

D
even if 与less 抵消,两空格同义,仅有D
————————————————————————————
7.The profits that the corporation

BE。
————————————————————————————
3. Although the metropolitan area boasts

C
————————————————————————————
7.This writer of fiction believed that the

B
preserve的反

This writer of fiction believed that the novelist should not_______the narrative, and that such inconspicuousness on the part of the author would preserve the illusion of reality

This writer of fiction = the novelist
the narrative =  such inconspicuousness =  preserv(ing) the illusion of reality

not + B1=  preserve
