According to the passage, the writer points out that providing the four-day workweek option to the workers will benefit for the workers as well as the companies and the whole country. However, the leacturer from the listening passage holds an opposite idea with the writer.

First of all, the speaker totally disagrees with the writer that employing more workers will effect the company economic condition and the quality of the workers.He states that employing more worker means much more money would be used in training the recruits and spending on the medical insurance. What's more, additional offices and comupters would be needed for these new employees which will deeply cutoff the profits of the company. The speaker has an opposite view with the writer.

Furthermore, the writer in the reading passage says that since any individual worker can only finish 80 percent of the previous work, more job opportunities will be available for others. In contrast, the speaker doesn't agree with the writher. He points out that not all of the workers would like to choose the four-day work, companies would like to persuade the employees to work overtime or increase the expectation of the amount of work which workers ususally need to be accomplished in 5 days. So the daily workload for the worker will be increase, resulting in reducing the happiness of the workers, which might cause some other toubles.

Last but not least, the leacturer says that the four-day work will bring some risks to the quality of the employees due to their job ability decreasing. Because the owners would concern about the entire bussiness system, these employees would probably pass over from promotion, because employers prefer hiring five-day workers. On the contrary, the writer says that the opition would increase the quality of the workers due to they have more time to spend with their family and do more leisure activities. They are cotradict each other.

As mentioned above, the benefits of the opition stated by the author are disagreed by the speaker.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
It is better to make friends with intelligent people than with people who have a good sense of humor?

In modern society, people attach more importance to relation and connection, which cause more and more people to consider the question that what kind of friends we need most in the rapidly developing world. In my point of view, both intelligent people and humorous people are equally important.

First of all, we should make clear about the definition of friend. The word “friend” covers a wide range of meanings. It can be a nodding acquaintance, a comrade, a confidant, or an intimate colleague, etc. They will cast impact on our lives. Everyone needs friendship. We need help from, and also give help to, others. No one could sail the ocean of life single-handed.

Secondly, the reason why I think we should make friends with the intelligent people is that life is full of strife and conflict. It is hard for us to get our positions and easily to get loss in the seemingly full of material civilization society. These intelligent friends would provide warnings to us against danger and offer advices with regard to how to deal with various situations. Then we could think it thoroughly before we jump into the water. For example, Wei Zheng, who served as the chancellor for thirteen years during Tang dynasty in the reign of Emperor Taizong of Tang. Although emperor Taizong had the biggest power, Weizheng always prevented him from making mistakes. There were several times even Taizong wanted to kill Weizheng. However, after Weizheng’s death, Taizong of Tang once said “after I took the throne, it was Weizheng who assistant me to correct my errors.” Judging from this, we could see that a smart friend like a mirror in which we could find where our fault and weakness is.

Moreover, the friends who have a sense of humor are also important in our life. In the developing society, many people always feel stressful than before. In order to be more competitive over others, they have to work over time. As a result, more and more pressure is accumulated.  In this case, jokes from humorous friends could make us laughing, help us relaxing, and then greatly release the pressure from work and study.

Furthermore, making friends with humorous people could help me develop the sense of humor. To see this clear, taking my friend Richard as an example. He is a sunshine boy who can always tell jokes when I feel frustrated and then make me feel much better. And more interesting thing is that I told other friends with those jokes which he told me before, and making more friends by doing so. Humor is a magnet, which really draws people.

As what mentioned above, I disagree with the statement that it is better to make friends with intelligent people than the humorous ones.

According to the passage, the author pointed out that team work is better than the individual work, because team work could have more benefits, such as obtaining a wider range of great resources, responding more quickly to get creative solutions as well as getting rewarding for each member in the team. However, the lecturer holds an opposite opinion with the author for the following reasons.

First of all, the professor totally disagrees with the belief in the passage that a team has various kind of resources when facing problems and issues. He state that in team work some members were of great free ride without any contribution to the program. The result could not reflect a team work from various resources.  Actually, the accomplishment is made only in the basis of limited resources provided by  the members who actually figure it out.

Furthermore, the author in the reading passage says that a group would take an action immediately when taking a task. The lecturer, however, doesn’t think so. He points out that in most cases, the team actually does not move quickly due to all of the group members have to take a long time to get an agree on the consensus.

Last but not least, the lecturer mentioned that although sometimes team work could come up with a solution which seems highly creative and practical, they are more likely to ignore the opposing position holding by the minority. What’s even worse is that even if the minority turned out to be right-those highly solutions, which led the program to a wrong direction, were wrong. Including the minority, all of the group members should be blamed due to the rule of spreading the responsibility. Judging from this, we could see that it is indeed works opposite with what predicted in the reading passage.

In conclusion, according to the discussion above, we could see that the lecturer does not support the points stating in the reading passage.
