Based on the difficulties of archaeology in UK has been through, a new set of rules and guidelines were carried out to improve the situation since 1990s. Three aspects mentioned in the passage are all improved.
First, all constructions must be examined by archaeologists before approval. This measure prevented the loss of archaeological interest and values on old buildings. Lower the possibility of destroying pieces of work due to the increase in construction to adapt with larger population. Even construction work around or nearby a known site needs to be assessed before getting the approval. Thus, preservation of artifacts is highly improved.
Second, construction companies are responsible to pay for pre-construction work for archaeologists. Financial resources are expanded a lot in this way allowing more investigation into archaeology. Government is no longer the only place archaeologists could turn to.
Third, archaeologists are needed in all stage of work now. They are needed and paid in the pre-construction assessment, scientific plan and development of constructions. Job opportunities increased to a highest ever level. With increase in need, more could work as an archaeologist as they would like to in deed.

独立 Only movies that can teach us something about real life is worth watching..agree or disagree


I disagree that only movies can teach us something about real life is worth watching.

Movies are created as entertainment. A good movie is to provide joy to audiences. Real life is tough and serious. In order to seek relax and peace people turn to entertainment. If we only watch movies that can teach us something about real life, we would stay in the real world all day with any release. Could you imagine a person being imbued with everything related to real life all the time? Could anyone actually stay in the real world for 24*7 hours each week? Life is real, as real as it could be. That is why people need movies. A world created above the real world, a world where sadness and sorrow from real life could be forgotten temporarily.

Furthermore, life is unpredictable. It is very hard to tell what kind of movie can particularly teach us something in real life. A college student may view sci-fi movie fascinating and it could teach people how to think outside of the box. When this student graduates from college and get a job, he may think movies presenting office stories are beneficial to real life. Situation variation changed educational purposes people would expect from movie.

In addition, movies usually carry art purpose instead of science and education. In order to fulfill the psychological need of targeted audiences, directors would change plots into a different situation or even contradictory with real life. Learning from the movie is not a good idea because mostly we would end up with another outcome. Movies are beautiful, perfect, ideal but practical.

People need a place to be released. So just let movie stay where it is. It is a place people turn to for entertainment and happiness, a place where people can forget about the real world.  A movie is to be enjoyed rather than be studied. Choose a movie spoils you, that is all we need.

The passage provided draws a conclusion that bird population will continue to decrease while instructor in the lecture totally disagree.
First, it is true that there were some habitats loss due to larger human population. But better and larger habitats are provided for birds. Bird population grows so much that people living in urban areas start to see pigeons, sometimes even hawks around. People made complains because it is just too many birds for them. Some species shrinks but some are growing.
Second, the passage claims agriculture develops to fulfill the growing population so more habitats are occupied to become farmland which worsen the situation for birds. In the lecture the instructor points out due to increase production on per unit area of farmland, it is not necessary to destroy birds' habitat. Actually in America, less farmland is under operation while the rest are redistributed to be new habitats.
Third, in the reading material the viewpoint is birds are dying from pesticides indirectly because pesticides hinder their reproductive. The instructor acknowledged traditional pesticides certainly help decrease birds' population. But now there are two measures available. First method is to develop less toxic pesticide to reduce harm it brings to birds. Second is to develop genetically pest resistance crops. The latter is very promising because crops never do harm to birds.
Based on three aspects above, the instructor believes birds would growing more than ever.

Movies and televisions should always show audience good people being rewarded and bad people being punished.

I do not agree movies and televisions should always show good people with happy ending while bad people get punishment.
If movies and televisions shows always tell the same story between good people and bad people, they would lose attraction from audience. No one would spend hours sitting in front of televisions watching a movie or TV series which they could predict ending within five seconds. For the stereotype which is  so familiar, patience and expectation of audiences would be exhausted. A particular example is TV series prison break. The 1st season is so popular and it is top on ranking. As it goes to 3rd season, the ending is known just with a glance of beginning.  It ends up 4 seasons though original plan is 7 also criticism from unsatisfied audiences.
As goodwill as it is that good people rewarded in the end and bad people punished, the real world sometimes does not work as good as movies and TV shows. People need to be alerted from TV and Movies how real this world is. It is a pity though it is true in real life there are some nice individuals have a miserable life or go through a disaster.  Individuals who are in charge or control this world financially and politically may turn out to be bad.  Sad facts people witness in their life.  Once they turn on television, they would only notice happy ending for good people which is contradictory with real life, they would no longer trust what presents in TV. Consequently television and movies would lose credibility from general audience. Nobody would treat it serious.
Further, with long time of imbue from TV that good guys could always have a happy ending, people would lower vigilance because bad guys would be punished sooner or later. People live with such confuse in their ideology is putting themselves in danger.   They might be taken advantage of easily.  Usually people who get awarded is through endeavor but TV and movies sometimes take it for grant. The misleading information is as long as you are a good person,  you will be rewarded finally however you work.  We know the conclusion is so silly because TV did not always give out misleading information. Otherwise judge and justification inner people would be ruined.
Movies and TV should have knowledge and being justifiable.  Reflecting what is happening in real life and allowing people to meditate by their own is the responsibility for those shows. Fixing a certain stereotype would gild the lily.
