7.6 The government should support scientific research that does not have any practical use.

In recent years, a nation’s scientific research capability occupies a serious(significant) status(词组用的不错) in judging the national power（改成competitiveness是不是更好？）. Financial allocation on（to） the （funds of）research work increases every year, while
some of the programs appear to be lake of practical use. In my opinion, the government has the responsibility to support these research works（舍去）, and the reasons are listed as follow.

First of all, it is hard to predict whether it may benefit the public in the future, although the research seems to be useless today. Everything that makes progress evolutionally(makes evolutional progress) and(舍去) may be accompanied by hundred times of failure.（这句话是想表达这个意思吗？成功都伴随着失败？） It is unfair to determine that the research is unpractical to use at the early period.(观点很好) Take bulb for example, people at that time could hardly imagine that they could keep the house bright as daytime (in the night) without candles. Although Thomas Edison (was) faced with a serious doubt of others（人们doubt他是应为研究没用？还是应为不相信他会成功？得说明一下前者）, he eventually succeeded. Today, we take it common(感觉没这个用法) to use bulbs and even neon lights at home, on the street or in the office. He told us that experience is the best teacher. Only through the test of time, the real value of the research could appear.

Moreover, only government could take the responsibility of supporting large number of the (舍去) research works. Because the scientific researches consume not only time but also money, most of the (their)investments should come from the(舍去) financial budget which is the wealth of the whole society. In addition, government has the power to call on experts from various fields of study. Especially to some programs on nature resources and basic disciplines(要提没有实际用途), the researchers who suffer a greater risk exposure and（这两个没有并列关系，用or吧） vapid work need to be motivated.

Although I agree with the argument, it still needs to do some prep evaluations on the programs. They should be put in the order of(their )contribution and emergency, namely that the one could solve more problems(什么问题？？) should be considered first. It mainly depends on the contradiction of the society and the(舍去)  need of the public.（人民需要不就是社会需要吗？那里矛盾了？）

With a comprehensive consideration of the （above）conditions, the government should take charge of（负责和支持是不一样的） the(舍去) scientific researches, even though it appears to have unpractical use today.

唉。。。你写一篇文章多少时间啊？？不要依赖于我们改就乱用词啊！！你是写的快了，我改的速度很慢，一句话要改很多，今天又改到2:30。。。怕又被你讲，斟酌一下斟酌一下（我也不体谅你了）
