The lecture disagrees with the statement with strong evidences which can be summarized by the following paragraphs.

First of all, the lecturer point out that the existence of polar dinosaurs doesn't prove that the dinosaurs have ever lived in a cool environment since in that primordial period the temperature in polar region was warmer than that of today's polar region. Actually, the dinosaurs were found to migrate to warmer region or process into the stage of hibernation when the polar region became cooler, which proves that the dinosaurs can't live in cool environment as endotherms do.

Secondly, the argument of the leg position and movement also was refuted by the fact that the real function of dinosaurs’ leg is to support its body weight instead of enhancing its running speed.

Finally, the mystery of the Haversian canals structure in the bones of dinosaurs was also resolved by the new evidence of structure of growth ring existed in the bones, which is an indicator of growth of dinosaurs. However, not like the endotherm which still have rapidly growth even in the cooler environment, the growth ring suggest that dinosaurs stopped grow or grow slower when temperature become cooler.

All in all, the lecture provided strong evidences to clarify the doubts that whether the dinosaurs were endoderm.

Thequality of education is usually recognized as an indication of thestrength and potential of a country, thus nearly all the country inthe world see the methods to improve the quality of education as abasic and important issue. Some people posited that increasingteacher’s salaries will result improvement of education quality.However, as for me, I didn’t agree with such a statement.

Maybe the increasing salaries will exertadverse effect to the quality of education sincethe extra money will always cause unexpected problems to theperformance of teachers.
Wheredo you get the opinion? So abrupt and assertive Forinstance, a primary school near my home recently increases thesalaries of teachers to encourage them. However, after two months ofsalaries increasing, two teachers were found to be insouciant whenthey are on duty because they use the extra money to drink atnight.theexample may explain your opinion above, “since the extra money willalways cause unexpected problems to the performance of teachers” ,however the connection is not smooth.   So,who can assert that increasing salaries will be an incitement forteacher’s performance? 11月2日 20100813NA Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? More and more people spend too much money on their pet (dogs, cats and others), although there are better uses for these money. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

With the development of living condition and economics in today’s society, pets become an indispensable part in most people’s lives. More and more public constructions have been built to provide conveniences for those pets such as excretion collection box, pets’ hospital and even pets beauty salon. All of these signs indicate that more and more people inclined to spend too much money on their pets.

First if all, many pets have built up a close relationship with their masters that sometimes they were treated as a family member instead of a pet. These close relationships actually involve constantly investment of the pet owners on both emotional and material aspects. How could a person be hardhearted enough to refuse to spend time and money on their family members? Recent news, for example, told us a touching story about a dog that used to be a seeing-eye dog for nearly eight years. Unfortunately, recently it also became blind due to a horrible accident. Many of us worried about its fate that it will be abandoned. However, to our surprise, his blind masters have ordered a seeing-eye dog serving especially for this blind dog. He said the dog was, is and will always be his good friend who accompanied with him for so many years without any complains. He knows how it feels when becomes blind and he could do anything to make it feel better. You see, when people have established a close relationship with their pets, they could do anything to comfort or please their pets just like they did to their family members, let alone spending much more money on their pets.

Secondly, it is hard to say which uses of money will be better than others use and actually for some people, uses on their pets are better choices. Different people have different views or standards on how to spend their money. For more and more people, with increasing stress from work and life, their pets reduce much of their stress with its unconditional love and always happy face. Therefore, spending money on their pets actually becomes an important and main manners to gain relaxes and happiness than spending money on drinking, singing or games in which the joys obtained are always limited and short-life. One of my neighbors, for instance, bought a cat instead of an Ipad using money from his son. He said he is too old and stupid to use the Ipad and it is better for him to have a live animal to be around. The cat actually gives him more happiness than an Ipad will do. Therefore, sometimes pets are better choices for spending money because it will bring happiness and joyful than other methods.

All in all, more and more people spend much more money on their pets than before because more and more people view their pets as faithful and devoted friends instead of just pets. It will be more deserved to spend money on pet to get relieved form stresses than any other methods.

11月3日 20101210NA Do you prefer to finish a project completely then to another one or do two or several projects at a time?

With the rapid development of today’s society, most people are inclined to obtain multi-results by multi-tasking instead of focusing on one project at a time in order to pursue what is called productivity and effectiveness. However, as for me, it’s a completely wrong way.

First of all, doing one project at a time make people more concentrated thus to avoid potential foolproof mistakes. A psychology research suggested that no one can actually do multitask as they think they can. Most of us actually are transferring minds and thoughts constantly from one project to another when multitasking. Therefore, it is highly probable that you can avoid some subconscious or unconscious mistakes when just focusing on one project. For instance, my colleagues in our lab always complain about the high tension of work load whereas low productivity. All of them agreed that one good result from one project is far better than multiple bad results from multi-tasks. You see, those unconscious mistakes produced from multi-tasks always result wasting more time and materials.

Secondly, focusing on one project at a time enables all your projects be well organized and more effective. The multi-task always bothers you for sometimes its pell-mell organization. It is a very difficult issue to manage multitasks and that’s why the GDT related soft wares are so welcomed in office. Good results also comes from good organization of multi tasks, otherwise the results will also be useless even if you have completed all the tasks without mistakes. In the industrial revolution, for instance, the automobile producer Ford optimized the automobile production by introducing the stream-lined working flow, thus significantly reduced the price of automobile which results the wide spread use of automobile throughout the whole country. In this case, the stream-lined working flow is the best example demonstrating that the effectiveness of focusing on only one project of each workers in the line.

Finally, the concentrated mind focused on one project at a time probably inspired you much more than squandering your minds on many subjects. Many artists are benefited much from focusing on one project. Dumas, one of the most prolific writers in the world, once disclosed that his un-exhausted ideas about the next novel always popped up when he is writing the current one. So, although it seems that multi-tasking will bring about more ideas, but actually focusing on one project at a time is the freshness deep springs of inspirations.

All in all, multi-tasking is a product of the flippancy and superficial of today’s society. However, focusing on one project at a time is the stead rock for development of society.

The lecturer provides several counterarguments to the opinions mentioned in this passage claiming that it is not necessary for American wood companies to pursue ecocertification.
First, the lecturer argues that the passage is too general to say that American consumers reject advertising completely. He asserts that Americans do not trust advertising claims made by a company that sells that product. However, if the claims are made by an independent third party such as a wood certification company, consumers will be more positive to accept that product.
Second, the lecturer also refutes the point in the reading - that American consumers are price-sensitive and likely to choose cheap wood products without certification. The professor points out that certified wood is only less than 5% more expensive than those uncertified wood, and therefore, he argues, consumers will be inclined to ignore the price difference and choose the eco-friendly product.  
Finally, the professor argues that it is an important strategy for American wood companies to receive eco-certification to compete with those ecocertified wood products imported from foreign countries, which refute the point mentioned in the reading that American consumers are likely to purchase domestically manufacture products even they are not ecocertified.

Whether you have money or not, the building up or breaking up a close friendship actually has nothing to do with your money. It is your characters, interests and reliability and other factors that determine your friendship. Money may have effect to change these factors thus change your friendship, but money can never play the direct role on it.  

The most important factor contributed to the friendship between two peoples is the mutually recognition with each other. This recognition comes from the common topics, interests, habits and other factors which enable those two peoples have something to talk about. These common topics actually have become effective methods to make new friends and possibly determine how deep your friendship is. Most importantly, this recognition can’t be affected by money. Money cannot change one’s knowledge or interests in just one night. Money can be used to buy a dink for someone, but without common interested topics, the conversion will turn out to be only embarrassment; Money can be used to hire someone to play games with you, but without real interests in this game, that hired people will soon become stranger for you.

Mutually trust is also a crucial factor to determine the friendship between two peoples. Completely trust with each other will make your friendship more profound whereas only a slightly betrayal will crash the one even it looks like a fort. Luckily this trust was not determined by economics condition, social position or appearances. If the given statement is true, then Bill Gates should have no close friends, and Gandhi would be trusted by nobody since when Gandhi is dead, he is nearly penniless. However, as you can see, Bill Gates and his friends have developed his foundation to the biggest charity organization in the world; Gandhi becomes a spiritual leader and a hero of the whole country. So, whether you have money or not, as long as you are sincere to other people, you can always win friends and influence others.

Last but not the least, money cannot change one’s characters abruptly which actually can be either enzyme or inhibitor to your friendship with others. An acrimonious and annoying people cannot make good friends no matter whether he has money or not. However, a benign and considerate person can win a lot of friends with or without money by his affinity. Roosevelt, the ex-president of USA, was respected and considered as a friend by nearly everyone in white house from the minister to the cleaning lady. Even he wasn’t president for many years, the cleaning lady in white house still misses him since “every morning he will call my name warmly and say hello to me as if I’m his old friend”. You know, there are thousands of people in white house and Roosevelt can remember every one’s name even a house lady.

All in all, money couldn’t be a barrier for friendship. As long as you have common things with your friend, mutually trust your friend and be nice to everyone, you can always wing lots of sincere and loyal friends.
