11月4日,综合
不好意思,3号的时候把4号的综合写了,不过反正也是不同的人修改,就直接把3号写的放上来了。
The lecturer provides several counterarguments to the opinions mentioned in this passage claiming that it is not necessary for American wood companies to pursue ecocertification.
First, the lecturer argues that the passage is too general to say that American consumers reject advertising completely. He asserts that Americans do not trust advertising claims made by a company that sells that product. However, if the claims are made by an independent third party such as a wood certification company, consumers will be more positive to accept that product.
Second, the lecturer also refutes the point in the reading - that American consumers are price-sensitive and likely to choose cheap wood products without certification. The professor points out that certified wood is only less than 5% more expensive than those uncertified wood, and therefore, he argues, consumers will be inclined to ignore the price difference and choose the eco-friendly product.
Finally, the professor argues that it is an important strategy for American wood companies to receive eco-certification to compete with those ecocertified wood products imported from foreign countries, which refute the point mentioned in the reading that American consumers are likely to purchase domestically manufacture products even they are not ecocertified.

11月5日 20101211NA Do you agree with this statement: it is more enjoyable to have a job, and you work only three days a week with long hours rather than work five days a week with shorter hours- N& N5 _6 l7 f) ]

If I was offered a job which allows me to work only three days a week, I will definitely accept this job even its salary may be a little bit lower than other job which requires me to work five days a week. Four days break in a week means a lot of things for most of us.  Staying longer with families, long journey which usually takes several days, full days training for your dancing class and so many other things will be available for you which you can never enjoy in a job whose schedule contains only two days break in a week. Therefore, I absolutely agree with the statement.
•        First of all, four days of break provides more opportunities and flexible schedules which enables us to travel around more than have before, for example, a three days hiking or camping. Most of us dream to travel around the world. However, this dream is always delayed without day because of tight schedule of work and both emotional and physical tired after work. Although we can have two days off normally in five days per week plan, it is still a tight schedule to have a trip in just two days, in which we usually would take one day break. However, now it all becomes possible if you have four days off in one week. A lot of places and far more choices will be available for you, and even those foreign countries or remote mountains.  You can go to a quiet place without no people there, which usually locate in deep forest and far away from the city to enjoy a three days camping for spiritual formation; You can walk to those village out of this world which can only be reached by walking. This is an attractive life for most of us and it indeed can be realized by four days off in a week.

•        Secondly, sometimes longtime continuous training will be more helpful for you to develop your skills you are interested in, for instance, dancing or painting.  Most of us have our own hobbies after work. Some people like calligraphy, while another people like dancing. However, based on my experience, it is hard to improve these skills with a loose plan such as one hour training per week or two times practice with 30 minutes each. The efficiency and productivity of continuous training which is usually called full-time training is far better than part-time training. Take my experience for example, when I was still a leader in a dance society in a school, I observed that those people who have attended the full-time training in a 3-4 days class improved their skills more quickly than those people who joined our training only once a week, even they have the same total hours of training.  Therefore, I believe that four days off a week can provide you more space to improve the skills you want to master outside your work.

•        Finally, the unusual days off, which are only available in three days of working plan, could make you get more chance to join those activity which are only available in weekdays. As we know, many and services such as bank, school or government are only available in weekdays. If APPLE sells its new Iphone, you don’t need to apply to your boss for a day off to get in the APPLE line; If government requires you to perform your duty as a citizen, you don’t need to delay a lot of things in your schedule to fulfill this obligation; If some shopping mall got any big discount in weekdays as usual, you can just go ahead without any consideration about your work. So many conveniences will be provided to you if you have days off whereas others are still working in the same day.

•        All in all, the flexible time schedules is the most great gift from three-day work plan, it also provide more opportunities to improve your personal skills and complete those thing which can only be done in weekdays. I’d like to have a job in which I only need to work three days and I believe that it will be very enjoyable.

11月5日,综合
The professor in the lecture defends the memoir written by Chevalier by clarifying the seeming contradictions, inaccuracies and other doubts raised by the reading passage.

The reading passage raises several doubts on the accuracy of memoir written by Chevalier, whereas the professor defends the memoir in the lecture by clarifying the seeming contradictions in the Chevalier’s accounts.

The lecturer claims that the memoir written by Chevalier actually has no seeming contradictions or inaccuracies mentioned in the reading passage. This claim is not in agreement with that of the reading passage, which doubts the memoir in several aspects.

The lecturer talks about the memoir written by Chevalier which was doubted by the reading passage for several inaccuracies. He defends the memoir by clarifying its seeming contradictions in the Chevalier’s accounts.

The lecturer revised the idea presented in the reading passage which indicated (pointed out, implicated) several inaccuracies and contradictions in the memoir written by Chevalier.

First, some members didn’t contribute a lot but still got recognition for the success. This is not fair since it means some other peoples who worked hard were not given recognition they deserve. That is to say, they missed the opportunities to “shine”. This directly contradicts what the passage indicates.

Second, the efficiency and progress for a group actually should be slower than individuals. The passage point out that groups are more responsive than individuals because a lot of people are involved and the aggregated resources are plentiful. However, the speakers point out that the firm found out that groups were slower than individuals in decision making. Groups needed more regular meetings to make a decision. This was another place where experience contradicted the reading passage.

Third, influential people might emerge and lead the group towards success or failure. If the influential people are going the wrong direction, the group might lopsided to the influential party as the leader thus become less flexible in its thinking  which may make them impossible to success.

11月7日 20100313 Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People can learn more from watching television than reading books
With the development of video recording and transmission technology, TV programs becomes more and more diversify and plentiful by which people can obtain increasing information including the recent news, hot topics , training courses and the list still can go on. However, although the TV programs are so various, I still believe that people can learn more from reading books.
It is true that nowadays TV can provide more and more information from nearly all aspects of our life. You can get to know the updated situation about the revolution happened in some country; you can learn how to cook from some cooking programs; you can obtain the insights from specialists.  Every one of us have been more or less benefited by learning directly from TV, Especially for those programs of education purposes,  such as TED speaks for those ideas worth spreading, open courses form top schools introducing the classes to normal people, and so on. Therefore, watching television indeed have provided us more opportunities to access more information, learn skills and understand controversial topics.
However, when watching television was compared to reading books in terms of which one is more useful for learning knowledge, reading book is definitely be the winner.
Let’s begin with the contents these two different vectors can load. As all we know, TV is a multi-media player which contains sound, image, text and video. However, the book only contains texts. Although it seems that books are disadvantaged in terms of methods for loading information, it actually was the most advantage books have. In order to express exactly the same thing, TV will use more resources than book will. Integration with sound, image and video actually need a lot of labor work, human resources and time. However, using text-only method to express even the most complicated idea could be far more convenient and easy than TV.
Secondly, reading books makes it possible to provide more profound insights and inspirations for people to think more deeply and logically than watching TV.  As we have experienced, text description force us to imagine and reconstruct that situations in our mind, thus stimulate your thinking and imagination by which you can get completely understanding for the description or even new findings. On the contrary, TV programs are usually considered as the second creation of art, which sometimes lose or even misrepresent important information for you to understand the original information. For instance, watching a film about the world greatest novel “War and peace” will never grant you the same experience as you can get from reading the novel in text.  One thousand audience have one thousand Hamlet , but on the TV show, you can only get the Hamlet from the director.
Last but not the least, TV contains various information which usually means more distractions for people. TV was usually considered as an entertainment instead of tools for learning for most of us. That’s because for most of time, TV was flooded with all kinds of advertisements, films, music, talk show and other programs other than educational programs.  It is not good tools for us to learn surrounded with different kinds of distractions.
So, for my aspect, although television is a good way to learn some superficial, simple knowledge, reading book is a far more better tools to learn and pass our knowledge  from generation to generation,
