15/ me or tutor?

It is a very common phenomenon that one encounters some certain problems at some courses in universities. There are usually two ways to handle this issue. One way is to seek help from your friends; another way is to ask a professional tutor. In my view, I would like to choose the former option as what I ordinarily do. The reasons are as following.

First of all, my friends know me better. They know what my merits are as well as my weak points. When I face with an academic problem, they are easier to find out what aspects of knowledge I lack. For example, I once failed to solve a math problem. Whatever methods I tried, the answer always eluded me. Then, I had to turn to my friend for help. Fortunately, she knew the approach to solve it. It turned out that I missed an example that my teacher mentioned in class. It bore a strong resemblance to the problem. Therefore, not only did she help me to figure out this question, but also the example. However, if I have asked a tutor instead of my friend, I could hardly make up the deficiency in my knowledge.

Furthermore, a discussion with my friends may create more inspirations. Exchange of ideas is undoubtedly beneficial to all. That is the situation when one plus one is more than two. Through discussion, we can know different thoughts on the same issue. Thus, we may improve our own approach. Also, we can realize some new problems through discussion. Sometimes, we are in mistaken in thinking that we have already grasped the knowledge. But the fact is that we do not understand the core of the idea. When I was in high school, I and my classmates sitting beside me often solved problems together. The person who knew the answer would explain it to others. Also, we might put forwards some queries so that we all had a deeper understanding.

Last but not the least; it is more convenient and cheaper to ask a friend. My friends live near me and we take similar courses. Hence, I can find them nearly any time. Also, I do not need to pay them. On the contrary, a tutor has his/her own time schedule. Since that, I cannot ask him/her on time. So, it is possible that I forget the exact question I want to ask. And I have to pay them for the service what I think is not worthy.

In conclusion, if you have some outstanding and warm-hearted friends, personally, it is always sensible to ask them for help.
