求教一个总是犯嘀咕的问题，关系词在定语从句中做主语时，能省略吗？
TPO阅读里有这么一句话：
About the closest any research has come to supporting the tiredness theory is to confirm that adults yawn more ofen on weekdays than at weekends
这句话is前是主语吧？
has come to supporting the tiredness theory 用来修饰research吧，且research 在定语从句中做主语，这个时候的关系代词能省略吗？

关系代词在从句中做主语时是不可以省略的。

以下文字摘自Oxford Learner's Grammar --Grammar Finder

We can leave out the pronoun from a relative clause without commas when it is not the subject of the clause. This happens especially in informal English.
    I need to talk to someone I can really trust.
    That man you were sitting next to never said a word.
    This has been the wettest summer anyone can remember.
    He certainly could not have committed the crime he was accused of.
Here the relative clauses begin with the pronouns I, you, anyone, and he. But when the relative clause has a noun subject, it is more usual to use a relative pronoun such as that.
    Nearby was a rope ladder that two girls were climbing up.

We do not leave out a subject relative pronoun.
    The architect who designed this building won an award.

我完全同意这个句子结构的划分。不过我感觉这个句子是有错误的：research 后边缺少了that/which，否则是解释不通的。而关于about the closest的解释，我没有找到出处。

about the closest是个常见的修饰语，意思是最为接近的，最有可能的
看个例句帮助理解：

这个句子，research是主语；谓语动词只有一个，是is；后面that引导的从句，充当宾语

翻译过来就是：支持疲惫理论的众多研究中最为接近的一种是去证实成年人在工作日打哈欠打的比周末多

has come to supporting the tiredness theory不是修饰research的，而是research的谓语。这句话不存在关系代词的问题。

is前面实际上正常的顺序是(any) research has come CLOSE to supporting the tireness theory，然后close前置了强调come close的程度。

cf:

He has gone far (as far as beyond that fence) to find his true love.
为了找到真爱，他走到了过那道栅栏那么远。

The furthest he has gone to find his true love (is beyond that fence).
为了找到真爱，他走得最远的远度就是过了那道栅栏。

about修饰close表come close的程度是个粗略估计啊。

He has gone about as far as beyond that fence to find his true love.
为了找到真爱，他走到了大约过那道栅栏那么远。

About the furthest he has gone to find his true love is beyond that fence.
为了找到真爱，他走得最远的远度大约就是过了那道栅栏。

About the closest 【any research has come to supporting the tiredness theory】 is to confirm that adults yawn more often on weekdays than at weekends

the cloest 是主语，省略了调查，因为这个词在前句中出现过了，括号里是同位语从句，主句就是主系表结构。

同位语从句是不可以省略that 的，这里可能出现的是修饰成分前置吧，为了凸显closest
