13"Many of the world's lesser-known languages are being lost as fewer and fewer people speak them. The governments of countries in which these languages are spoken should act to prevent such languages from becoming extinct."
Position: It is unworthy to preserve those language which is spoken by little people.
1. Admitly that preserving the rarely-spoken language has its only reason and goodness, however, it is predestined to extinct, which is a nature culture development.
2. In this technologically advanced world, an unified language ,which can solve the language-different stone in communication between different countries,is urgent
3. Preversing the rarely-spoken language will cost too much energy, and resource.
With the globalization impending, some languages have a hopeless future, for the number of poeple who speak these languages is decreasing. It plague the governments of the countries in which these languages are spoken. To save their languages, these governments act to prevent such languages from becoming extinct. Maybe they should stop to think carefully that whether it is worth doing so. Does saving their language really play an crucial role? What we should acknowledge is that it is unworthy to preserve those languages which is spoken by little people.
For a nation, its own language's existance is indeed of a great importance. In a native languange, the classic novels reveal their excitement exhaustively, although there are still other version in other languages, which will, to a certain degree, cover its highlight. Not only in this field does a native language is useful, but in various aspects. It proves to be undeniable.
However, the lesser-known languages are predestined to extinct, which is a nature culture development. In the circumstances of globalization, international communications connect people from different regions, which makes a progress for all of the races generally. In the process, diversity of language acts as a wall that impedes the communication. So, the unification of different languages is urgently needed, both by the great countries, with a lot of people speaking their mothertongue, and also, by the tiny nations, whose native language is used in a narrow range. We can see the fact that it is obviously more easy and reasonable for the minority to use other's language. Consequently, English, French, Chinese and several others, have become the official languages of the UN, while some are in danger of extinction.
What is more, if the trend declining of a certain language is inevitable, there is no need and chance to preserve it. Actually language is just a tool for translating imformation. If the English can be widely used in Britain, the United States and Australia, there is not a great possibility that it will make people confused in the country native language is replaced. No need is just one reason, while no chance is another. Certainly, the government can take the measure to ask their people to use their own language, their father taught them, in everyday life and speak other's language when they meet aliens. This seems a good way, but is hard to realize. Generally speaking, the nations, with the involvement in this kind of problems, are usually not rich. If the government encourage their people to speak their mothertongue while use English or French when they do businesses with foreigners, people must be taught at least two languages at school, which seems easy in rich countries, but hard in those of the kind where education is under-development.
We can take a deep analyzation on the energy and resource that is required if a government has the inclination to save their weak language.
First, you must teach the people at least two languages, just as has been referred above, which would cost a mint of money, covering the salary of the teachers, the textbook and so on. What is following is you should invest a lot to study on the characteristics of the native language, to find a suitable method to begin the program of save. Finally, the base of the language, the native culture, need support and that means not only a small expenditure. Thus, the cost of the giant program will deplete the poor government, and makes little good.
Conclusively, saving the declininig languange that is predestined to extinction means a endless investment, with no gain, but pain, for the reason that it is ultimately unworthy to preserve those languages which is spoken by little people. |
