Two PhD student positions with full financial support are available beginning Spring or Fall 2014 (or  later  until  filled) in the  School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at GaTech. The financial support package includes full tuition waive, benefits, and competitive stipend. Visiting Ph.D. students are welcomed as well.

The admitted students will pursue Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering with a special focus on construction engineering and management. The students are expected to work with Dr. Yong Cho in the general field of Data Sensing, 3D LADAR development for Robotic construction operation, Rapid 3D Built Environment Modeling, Building Information Modeling. The selected students will be able to involve in multiple external projects funded by NSF, State DOT, and TRB.

Minimum Requirements:
B.S. in Engineering or related fields, other general admission requirements of GaTech please refer http://www.gradadmiss.gatech.edu/programs/cee/ce.php
Proficient with at least one programming language.
Good oral / writing skills in English and good communication skill.


Desirable Qualifications:
M.S. in Engineering or related fields.
Tier 1 journal paper publication.
Experiences related to one or more of the following areas: 1) Computer Graphics; 2) 3D Point Cloud Processing (laser scanning); 3)  Image processing & 3D visualization; 4) Kinematics; 5) Wireless sensor network; 6) Hardware system design; 7) Mobile robot: design & prototyping, autonomous navigation, path planning, IMU, SLAM; 8) UAV: design & prototyping, indoor/outdoor navigation, data collection, IMU; 9) Building energy monitoring and management (mechanical system); 10) Building information modeling (BIM) for infrastructure, energy simulation, IFC/XML programming
