my comment
60. "The media and society in general mistakenly expect an individual
to speak for a particular group, whether or not that individual truly represents the views of the entire group."
When we are watching TV, reading newspaper and surfing
on the Internet, we can easily find that many of them represent
one particular group or individual and expect them to speak
for a larger group or even the whole society. The speaker
holds that it is wrong for the media to do so, and I agree with
him or her.[you have used too many "or"s]
There are probably several reasons for the media to do [so] [that-to
expect an individual to speak for a particular group, you dont need to repeat.] For one thing,
many of[delete "of"] media companies and groups lack enough money to [live] [run their business/ survive /exist]
and go on with their job, although they can get great amounts of
money from their customers, then[?] they try to find some funds from
other sources, government or politician, is a good one[choise]. Thus, media
can secure enough money they [need]to run their companies and, in
return for this, they have to do something for the government
or politician. One good way for the media to do is to let an
individual who often is a political leader to speak for his
little group, government or party. A good example is that we
can see hundreds and thousands of reports about one individual
praising his particular party when he is running
for a[an] important position in the government or parliament.
For another, a lot of media groups are run by and belong to
an individual[too many "indivisual"], which means that those media have nothing
to do but represent and speak for his[their] "boss".
{i think the perspective you choose is problematic as politatian use media to get their vote is reasonable, and that individual do speaks for his affiliates, however ,I think the topic means other kinds of media abuse]
If media always represent an individual or particular group
and speakfor them, the results will become nightmare. First of
all, news and reports from this kind of media are becoming
incredible and doubtable for most of them are not justified
and always only represent one special group's[what if this specia group is the entire group?you did not define.] idea. For instance,
In many countries, there are some kind of media only representing
for their authorities and governments, People's Daily[not a good eg. to use] which is
allowed only by Chinese government to be published
and thence only speaks for them is a good example. People
hardly get a lot a objective reports and news and they are often
beguiled by the media for they are becoming increasingly lack of
insights into the background and truth of a lot of things. Secondly,
our society will belikely to become hurly-burly and people have
not true democracy. If the media only represent an individual
who just speaks for his own party and government, his government
will be very liked[likely] become despotic. The Iraqi former leader
Saddam is [a]typical instance, he and his regime control the
Iraqi media which have no choice but to serve
for the regime and the result is that not only Iraqi people
can not get justified and true news but they are deprived of real democracy and freedom of speaking as well[too long]. So we can say
that some media expect an individual to speak for his group
will mistakenly lead people to the
hell.["hell"seems to be a bit of colloquial]
In conclusion, I hold that media should not just represent one
particular person and speak for his group and party, they should
represent all people around the world [??!!]and report with objectivity
and truth. If they do not, they will make mistakes that I have
written above.[ here you should repeat the mistakes you have said above] |
