For a Master’s programme other than the Executive MBA programme, the
applicant shall have:
1. graduated from a recognized university and obtained a Bachelor’s
degree, normally with honours not lower than Second Class; or
2. graduated from an honours programme of a recognized university with
a Bachelor’s degree, normally achieving an average grade of not lower
than ‘B’ in undergraduate courses; or
3. completed a course of study in a tertiary educational institution
and obtained professional or similar qualifications equivalent to an
honours degree.

Applications are accepted throughout the year and will be considered
in two rounds annually.
The application deadlines for 2004 are as follows:

Applications submitted after the application deadline will normally be
considered in the next admission round. Applicants are strongly
advised to discuss their proposed research area with the relevant
coordinator before submitting an application.
To apply for admission to a research degree programme, applicants are
required to submit the following to the School of Graduate Studies:
1. completed application form; and
2. application fee payment receipt or, for non-local candidates only,
a bankdraft for the required fee; and
3. three photocopies of the following supporting documents: 3份RP,成绩
单,学位证明,获奖证明,发表文章情况,T成绩单
a. a research proposal with clear objectives and proposed methodology.
b. official certificates and transcripts of academic qualifications.
(Certificates and transcripts that are not in English should be
accompanied by a formal certified translation in English.)
c. certificates of professional qualifications, if applicable.
(Certificates that are not in English should be accompanied by a
formal certified translation in English.)
d. (in support of the applicant's publication record, if applicable)
the front page of the papers (for papers that have been published) or
the letter of acceptance (for papers that have been accepted for
publication). Where any publication so submitted is in a language
other than English, it must be accompanied by an abstract in English.
e. international English language test results, if applicable. For
TOEFL results, applicants may send in a copy of their score record or
arrange with the TOEFL service centre to send the record directly to the
University (Institution Code: 3401).
Applicants can also submit an on-line application.Applicants are also
required to nominate two referees who can comment on their academic
performances (proposed supervisor and persons from non-academic
circles are normally not acceptable as referees). Please send the
Referee's Report Form to the referees and invite them to complete the
forms and return them directly to the School of Graduate Studies under
confidential cover.

For MPhil applicants:
Please submit a statement of research interest, including your reasons
for undertaking graduate work at HKU.
3. Two academic referee's reports
Please invite two people who know about your academic achievements to
complete the academic referee's report form (pdf format / doc format)
and send it directly to the Graduate School. Alternatively, you may
request the referees to return the referee's report to you in a signed
and sealed envelope, and send the unopened envelopes to the HKU Graduate
School together with your other supporting documents.
4. Official score report of one of the following English language
proficiency tests
5. Other documents
Other documents which the applicants would like to bring to the
attention of the University, e.g. documentary evidence of professional
qualifications, summary of relevant experience, list of publications,
etc.

General University Requirements
Applicants seeking admission to master's degree, graduate diploma or
professional diploma programs should have obtained a bachelor's degree
from this University or a recognized institution, or obtained an
approved equivalent qualification; and satisfied the school and
department concerned as to their fitness as well as their English
ability to pursue the postgraduate program.
To be eligible for admission to a PhD degree program, applicants
should normally have obtained a master's degree from this University
or an approved institution, or presented evidence of satisfactory work
at the postgraduate level on a full-time basis for at least one year, or
on a part-time basis for at least two years; and satisfied the school
and department concerned as to their chosen subject of research, as well
as their fitness and English ability to undertake the research.
