Interdisciplinary doctoral studies at UMKC in Civil Engineering

A self-motivated doctoral student is sought in the area of Civil Infrastructure Engineering at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. 2014-Spring admission is recommended at this point.

Students seeking a doctoral degree with a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Applied Mechanics are preferred. Outstanding undergraduate students seeking Master’s studies are also welcomed. Candidates with a strong background in general physical simulation (e.g. structural analysis using finite element methods) and computer programming (C++/Matlab) are favored towards financial aids. The research projects feature the use of emerging imaging (UAV and crowdsourced imaging) for civil infrastructure and built environment modeling, probabilistic damage detection and inference, and applied development for natural disaster and social emergency response.
