A political and business leader plays a crucial role in a team. A successful teamwork, to a large extent, is decided by the ability of the leader. Hence there are a plenty of requirements of an intelligent leader, such as nice communication, efficient organization, great influence to team members and good self-control. Of course, the ability to take responsibility for mistakes is indispensable to leaders, but I disagree that it can be positioned in the first place.
Finding the mistakes who should undertake is much more significant than just self-examination. a team is just like a machinery. In this machinery, each individual like a screw exerts an influence on the operation while leader is the operating staff. When the machinery malfunctions, what the first measure leader need to do is to exam the stoppage instead of owing the mistake to himself which makes no sense. Then the leader has to change the broken screw into a brand new one killing the black sheep as quickly as possible. In most cases, the failure of a team lies in letting the member free from punishment.
Furthermore, for a leader the ability of establishing an effective regime for his or her team and then following rigidly should be taken into account firstly. Regime is able to make sure the operating of the team work without the supervision of the leader. Leaders are emancipated from easy and regular work and have much more time to do creatively. It is more meaningful in the tremendous institution like international company. Can you image that the boss of a top 500 company of the world spend most of the time staring at his employees every day. An excellent regime guarantees the company operating highly efficient.
Admittedly, I tend to concede that the courage that leaders take responsibility for mistakes is worth to applaud. However viewing it as the most important characteristic is inaccuracy. As I mentioned above, a nice regime is a method of avoiding the mistakes or correcting mistakes automatically. Even if the mistakes without the range of regime, investigation to the reason of mistakes is more meaningful.
