95 "People work more productively in teams than individually. Teamwork requires cooperation, which motivates people much more than individual competition does."
人们在团队中工作比独立工作要更加有效率。团队协作需要的合作能够比个人间的竞争更加激励人们。
Do people work more productively in teams than individually? In such a competitive society, individual competition motive(加s) people a lot by exerting survival pressure on them. However, in my opinion, cooperation, required in teamwork, can activate people much more than individual competition does; and people can create more productivity(生产力?改为production) in teams than individually.
First of all, while cooperating with others, people can receive from other members (加个’号) valuable suggestions that may lighten up their inspiration. As people in teams always discuss tasks, projects, and problems together, any information one member reveals will probably catalyze(好词) another's creativity. For example, the research institution (institute) of Microsoft in china (China), which takes charge of the software programming, system maintenance, and technological supporting that relate with Window OS, named its discussing room "the Zero Room" because zero has the same pronunciation as inspiration in Chinese. The chief technology officer of the institution (institute), a (an) expert in computer science, once told the journalist (and I paraphrase), "every time in this room, we create, express, and receive ideas; and then Inspiration bursts out. That's why we call our discussing room "the Zero Room ", referring to "the Inspiration Room". From the experience of the staff in the research institution can we see the catalysis of cooperation,
Moreover, people will feel it responsibility (如果是从句的话少谓语,改成it is responsible) to work hard while cooperating with others, for their personal performance directly influence the team's success. Obviously, one individual’s personal mistakes or laziness will encumber the development of the whole team, which inevitably (这个词绝对了一点,也许有的人天生就是懒,而且不懂得什么叫集体荣誉感) brings compunction to him. As a result, people will work hard to avoid making mistakes while cooperating with others; further, they will be motivated even more if they have made mistakes before. For example, Robert.Baggio, a superstar of soccer, had practised kicking penalty goal millions of times before becoming a (an注意后面的是元音开头)expert of penalty goal, because his team always expected him to kick penalty goal and penalty goal was so important (少个that)it can determine the result of a soccer match on many occasions. He practised even harder after missing (a penalty goal) in the final of 1994's World cup the crucial penalty goal that destroyed the success of Italy team in the end. Nobody had blamed Baggio because of his mistake; however, it was the compunctions that drived him to practise kicking penalty goal again and again.
In addition, people can exclude laziness by involving themselves into cooperation with others. If people work alone, they have freedom to plan for his (their) work with no deadline at all, on which occasion(这句读起来不顺) laziness may impair their efficiency dramatically. However, As cooperation tend (加s) to use overall devising and labor dividing to maintain its proceeding, it is not proper, if not irresponsible, for the individual to leave his distribution half-done when all the others have finished theirs already. The pressure from other group members can help the individual extricate (加s) himself from potential laziness. For instance, when a team receives the assignment of building a house, different individual will take charge of different aspects of it. Sensible people can never give himself to the intoxication brought about by certain laziness rather than work hard to avoid shame; and if not so sensible, they will inevitably receive from others the pressure that pushes them forward. People will receive great motivation by eliminating their laziness; and consequently, they become more productive.
To sum up, people can dig out from themselves more productivity by cooperating with others. Comparing to individual competition, cooperation can motivate people more and shape them more productive individuals.(最后这句读起来有点别扭)
