According to some people statement, we should placed less emphasis on challenge and encourage compromise and even be a major goal in every school. However, in my opinion, although harmony is important, we should placed most of our attention on challenge.

The primary reason why I believe we should placed most of our attention on challenge is that the critical thinking is the most important quality of a scientist or a politician, and the every breakthrough of human development is related to challenge. Take Einstein for example, who is the most brilliant physician in the world for his discovery of the theory of relativity, if he don not have critical thinking and have no doubt to classical mechanics, he will never have the breakthrough discovery and may be he will be a mediocre physician, and it is fortune that the challenge of Einstein, we can enjoy the fruit of his contribution. For the reason above, we should placed most of our attention on challenge and encourage critical thinking.

The another reason we should placed most of our attention on challenge is that students it is necessary for students to criticize the views of each other in their studies, which does not necessarily lead to conflicts among them. Students criticize each other can help them found each other’s fault and shortcoming, and correct the fault and shortcoming in time which is very necessary to them. However, some people would argue that if students criticize each other, they will argue with each other and conflict with each other. It is no a serious problem because academic conflict is only conflict in academic field. Two people can be close friends even though they have different opinions in academic problem. For the reason above, we should placed most of attention on challenge among students.

The last but not the least reason for my support is that compromising is harmful in academic pursuits. When we compromise, we give up our own opinion, even some original idea which might lead to some breakthrough in academic field. The mentor of mine told me that when his is a young researcher found some different phenomenon according to the theory of an arbiter of his field but in the end he compromised to the theory of authority and later another researcher also attentive the difference and develop a new theory which made he regret all through these years. From the example, we can come to the conclusion that if we not want lost the opportunity of academic pursuits we should never compromised.

In conclusion, while some people may still remain unconvinced, the reason that I have analyzed in above argument should at least made them aware of the important of the challenge. And it is little doubt that more and more people will come to realize we should place most attention on challenge and encourage critical thinking.
