Every person has their own ideas, according to the situation of their epoch. These ideas often change with the development of the society. The criterion of the definition about “right” and “wrong” also has different understanding in different ages. Consequently, people in different epoch should redefine “right” and ”wrong” by the conditions of their own ages.(探讨: 开头是不是绕了一点 直接回应主题)
There are no absolute right and wrong in the world. The definition of the “right” and “wrong” from general understandings of values and the reality of the world is limited by specific conditions of the era. With the updating comprehensions of the world and the development of the societal status, criteria and the definition always alter. Therefore, it is inevitable to obtain different explanations about the right and wrong. The evolution of economic theories could illustrate this clearly. The Keynesianism, as a mainstream theory after the Great Depression in 1930’s, emphasizes the importance of expanding the valid demand. During the time of absent valid demand, this theory worked efficiently and was considered as “right” in that times. However, in the 1970’s, the situation changed, the shortage in the world’s economy was not the demand but the supply, resulting in this theory outdated and “wrong”. The supply school, a theory advocating reducing taxes, leads the American economy to get rid of the stagflation and becomes the theory basis for American government in 1980’s. Although this theory might be considered as “wrong” in 1930’s, it is redefined to be “right” in new times.(如果限时的话,你能够花122个字去讲述一个例子吗?应当简洁)
The incessant progress of society, in a sense, is promoted by the regular redefinition of “right” and “wrong”. Take Renaissance, happened from fourteen century to seventeen century in Europe, for an example. As we know, the belief that people are governed by God was an adamantine view being deemed as this “right” before this transitional movement. It is Renaissance that accelerates the idea to a new one that people is the focus in the world. What is more, it is the beginning of Europe adopting the new ideology and getting ahead of the East which was still persisting with the old ideology. Hence, some ideas which were considered as “right” in old times sometimes could turn into the cause as impediments for social advancement. Only if people break through these obstacles, in another word, amending the “right” in old times to the “right” in new ages, society could make a progress.(通过你的ts,应该去强调 社会如何被redefinition所促进)
Although it is important to give new explanations about “right” and “wrong” in new times, we could not ignore that new generations should use the old “right” as references, and gain their new “right” by revising old ones. As one theory in philosophy, the essence of things is not altered with the change of ages, indicating that the old “right” sometimes is not absolutely wrong, but only need to be revised. For instance, Constitution of the United States, passed in 1787, has a regulation that the Indians and slaves representing thirty-five percent of population did not have equal political rights. This regulation seemed as “right” in that times since it truly maintained peaceful in America. However, with the rethinking about the racialism and assimilating some advantages from the Bill of Right, the Supreme Court prohibited all forms of racialism, as the new “right” standard nowadays.
To sum up, with the development of the societal status, new generation should redefine “right” and “wrong”, on the basis of revising other than totally discarding, which will promote the social progress.(好象这才应该是你的ts)
