The speaker claims that education is primarily a personal matter, which has little to do with school or college. Although education depends on the individual efforts, as far as I am concerned, the significant role school or college plays ought not be neglected.
I concede that education would be not productive without personal efforts. Only with their own efforts can the students learn well, which are the most significant. A beautiful school or a great college does not make sense if the students in it are reluctant to learn. Only by its impetus and desire can a student accomplish his/her education in the end. Without such desire or interest, no other things can help him/her to achieve the education goal. As a result, the primary purpose of education is to activiate activate students in their studying, not to solely provide them with a good learning enviornment. environment
However, school or college provides students with an enviornment for learning more comfortably, and offers a competitive atmosphere. On the one hand, libraries, basketball Squares, swimming pools, and other facilities standing on the campus help students get a better education. At school, students can search the materials wanted in the library, and do exercises to build a strong body, while at home or other places, there will be no such comfort. On the other hand, excellent pupils on the campus from all over the country compel one to learn harder in order to gain high grades. Such competitive atmosphere is beneficial, for it forces one to review its lessons before an examination, and help one better master the knowledge. Imagine the performance of two students at school and at home. It is reasonable to deduce that the student at home will learn less for the simple reason that there are so many distractions at home, which may attract his/her attention. However, the student at school may learn a large quantity of knowledge, as the pupils around him/her are all learning hard, which in turn has great influence on him/her.
Furthermore, with the dramatic increase in knowledge today, it is impossible for students to educate themselves without the involvement of school or college. Due to the largely expanded knowledge and the increasing number of lessons one may take during his or her college life, it is almost impossible for a student to learn well all by himself/herself. Under such cirmustances circumstances, the school or college just serves as a guidance to help student go the right way. It is hard to imagine a student who can learn all the knowledge required by the society just through his or her own efforts.
To sum up, although individual factors are indispensable indispensable for education, it is school or college that finally pushes students to accomplish their education. It is unwarranted to assert that education has little to do with school or college. On the contrary, if the individual factors can combine with the help of school or college, the education of a country will surely go more effective and productive.
