Issue144
It is the artist, not the critic,* who gives society something of lasting value.
*a person who evaluates works of art, such as novels, films, music, paintings, etc.

In the era of rapid social and technological development, after achieving the basic purpose in material aspect, people turn their focus to the spiritual area to satisfy their psychological demands. Therefore, art that can primarily bring beauty to our surroundings increasing play a significant role in our development of society. In this field, some people claims that it is the artist, not the critic, who gives society something of lasting value. However, this conclusion oversimplifies the elements which contribute to advent of lasting valuable art work. Although the artists directly create these works, people cannot ignore the indirect contribution made by critics.

Firstly, it is the creative minds replete of erratic ideas that add hue to our quotidian life. As we know, all the outstanding art work can exclusively be directly created by the artists, no matter how many times they have tried to make their work perfect before they satisfy. Even if some results of these attempts are really wired, unacceptable, or leave some undesirable impressions to public, nevertheless, people should also admire those successful artists for their marvelous feats which finally bring us pleasant and relaxation from pressure in modern society.

Secondly, however, the critics' views to some extent help the artists retrospect them deeply to bring up creative sparks. As a critic, he/she can provide feedback for artists, give them constructive suggestion because he/she have the ability to insight about the works that layman would no have. Actually, some successful artists usually inquire the critics concerning the quality of their works, the deficiencies of them, and how to improve. For example, the head of the art department in my university, a famous Chinese painting artist, always have conversation with several critics about his works. He said this kind of conversation really help him improve his skills and motivate some inspirations, and encouraged his students pay attention to those critics' advice. This instance illustrates that even artists themselves admit that critics do play, even indirectly, an important role in giving society something lasting value as well.

Thirdly, a critic's evaluation of a good art work serves as catalyst in the spreading of them. Due to their outstanding ability to insight the art works, critics can strongly influence public attitudes toward those works. Whether people acknowledge or not, when most of them consider a piece of art work as a successful one, the critics' positive judgments cannot be ignored. For example, many movie commercials usually involves some evaluation quoted from critics’ words, the propagandists utilize this complimentary remarks to urge people go to movie theater. And this approach always successes not only in increasing the profit but also make more people appreciate good art works. Therefore, critics help those works which has lasting value to become popular to masses, and hence indirectly assist the artists.

To some up, although who gives society something of lasting value remains complex to some people, most of us, through closer analysis above, can come to an agreement that, undeniably, not only the artist but also critics have significant function in the art field to give us these valuable work.

However, this conclusion oversimplifies the elements which contribute to (加the)advent of lasting valuable art work. Although the artists directly create these works, people cannot(改为should not语气强一点) ignore the indirect contribution made by critics.

Firstly, it is the creative minds replete of erratic ideas that add hue to our quotidian life. As we know, all the outstanding art work(s) can exclusively be directly created by the artists, no matter how many times they have tried to make their work(s) perfect before they satisfy (with them). Even if some results of these attempts are really wired, unacceptable, or leave some undesirable impressions to public, nevertheless, people should also admire those successful artists for their marvelous feats which finally bring us pleasant and relaxation(个人觉得这点论证力不够,艺术品不一定带给我们快乐和轻松的,好的作品带来的往往是思考) from pressure in modern society.

Secondly, however, the critics' views to some extent help the artists retrospect them(改为their works,不然会引起歧义) deeply to bring up creative sparks.
What language is thine, O sea?

*a person who evaluates works of art, such as novels, films, music, paintings, etc.

Firstly, it is the creative minds replete of erratic ideas that add hue to our quotidian life. (题目的论述对象是artist, critics,或者art works-valuable things,而你的主题句一个都不涉及对象 )As we know, all the outstanding art work(s) can exclusively be directly created by the artists, no matter how many times they have tried to make their work(s) perfect before they satisfy (with them). Even if some results of these attempts are really wired, unacceptable, or leave some undesirable impressions to public, nevertheless, people should also admire those successful artists for their marvelous feats which finally bring us pleasant and relaxation(个人觉得这点论证力不够,艺术品不一定带给我们快乐和轻松的,好的作品带来的往往是思考) from pressure in modern society.(这一段你是想写artist价值吧,那就拿些他们对社会\公众valuabe 的作品不就行了)

Secondly, however, (这两个词放在一起不好,一个顺接一个转折)the critics' views to some extent help the artists retrospect them(改为their works,不然会引起歧义) deeply to bring up creative sparks. As a critic, he/she can provide feedback for artists, give them constructive suggestion because he/she have the ability to insight about the works that layman would no(t) have. Actually, some successful artists usually inquire the critics concerning the quality of their works, the deficiencies of them, and how to improve. (inquire 这个词程度不够,用ask  ciritics for advince  about )For example, the head of the art department in my university, a famous Chinese painting artist, always have conversation with several critics about his works. He said this kind of conversation really help him improve his skills and motivate some inspirations(his inspiration), and (这里可以断句,或者加个always吧,不然更前面连起来怪怪的) encouraged his students (to)pay attention to those critics' advice.

To some up, although who gives society something of lasting value remains complex to some people, most of us, through closer analysis above, can come to an agreement that, undeniably, not only the artist but also critics have significant function in the art field to give us these valuable work.

People are always dispute about whether political leaders should withhold information from public. In my opinion, in most time, it is necessary for political leaders to make information public, while under some certain circumstances they should withhold it.

First of all, political leaders, as public persons elected by people, must be responsible for their people. People grant political leaders great rights for the purpose that they could serve the public and bring them  well-being of their life and society. They also have the rights to know whether the political leaders have utilized rights for their private interests. As is well known that “absolute power corrupts absolutely”, if the leaders withhold information and keep out of the public watch, it is entirely possible from them to make their private interests. A well-known example is the Watergate scandal. If Nixon could manipulate the mass and prohibit the survey of his scandal event, public people would not know it. In that case, the democracy would be really undermined.

Secondly, if the political leaders open information like the government decisions or some policies or investment plans, they could receive feedback information from the public people. Only in that way, can the political leaders know that whether their decisions are right or false, well accepted or strongly objected. A government decision made by political leaders without reference to public is blind and even dangerous, maybe becomes a big waste of public resources. Furthermore, sometimes good advices and ideas from public people will help political leaders solve problems they encounter but have no idea to handle.

Admittedly, under some certain circumstances, it is unnecessary for political leaders to keep some information public. For example, as a president of America, Bush would not open some top secret information of the country, especially the military information. If the terrorists get the military secrets, it is great threat to the security of American people. When it comes to private information, the political leaders have the freedom to withhold it from public. Although people are much interested in their leader's private life like their family, lover, and even what food they like, the leaders have right to keep this information secret.

In sum, political leaders should public information or keep it from people case-by-case. In democratic country, what matters is that the political leaders can give their people a well being society.

这篇是issue 8?
People are always dispute about whether political leaders should withhold information from public. In my opinion, in most time, it is necessary for political leaders to make information public(public用的好!) while under some certain circumstances they should withhold it.

First of all, political leaders, as public persons elected by people, must be responsible for their people. People grant political leaders great rights for the purpose that they could serve the public and bring them well-being of their life and society. They also have the rights to know whether the political leaders have utilized rights for their private interests. As is well known that “absolute power corrupts absolutely”, if the leaders withhold information and keep out of the public watch, it is entirely possible from them (有点指带代不明?information?power?)to make their private interests. A well-known example is the Watergate scandal. If Nixon could manipulate the mass and prohibit the survey of his scandal event, public people would not know it. In that case, the democracy would be really undermined.

Secondly, if the political leaders open information like the government decisions or some policies or investment plans, they could receive feedback information from the public people(干脆去掉people, public就有民众的意思,下同). Only in that way, can the political leaders know that whether their decisions are right or false(wrong), well accepted or strongly objected. A government decision made by political leaders without reference to public is blind and even dangerous, maybe becomes a big waste of public resources. Furthermore, sometimes good advices and ideas from public people will help political leaders solve problems they encounter but have no idea to handle.(加个例子之类的吧!

In sum, political leaders should public(查了半天没有动词用法?) information or keep it from people case-by-case. (注意观点是情况有多有少,这没体现?)In democratic country, what matters is that the political leaders can give their people a well being society.(这句有点突兀,少点连接)
