In my view, the advantages from the science and technology overweight the negative effect, which can be proved by our empirical experiences.

First of all, in last century technology and science have improved our living condition and economic standard at all event. We should not have to go far to find the examples when we go around our lives. Before air condition was invented, people have to complain the god not to give us a comfortable weather and only what can we do is to endure once again, cold and hot, hot and cold. Now human beings can stay at home and do not afraid what the weather tomorrow. More recently, with the development of science and technology, it is possible for people to have time and consider the physical conditions for everyone. All kinds of home appliance are good illustrations. Short wave oven makes cook easier, dish washer release people from boring labor, and computers give us opportunity to experience the world outside. All these above illustrates technology has improve human conditions a lot.

Otherwise, we have to accept technology innovations have nothing to do with wars and violence, and even bring about some ethic problem to mankind. Wars and violence stemming from the nature of humanity, such as greed, are out of catch of science and technology. Although the nuclear army is considered as the peace of world, no one will deny the inhibit threaten expressed by nuclear army to human beings and no one will safely conclude it were the end of the world after every country has its technology of nuclear army. On the contrast, people have to consider be more care of the tremendous destroy and catastrophe they will bring about. On the other hand, science and technology themselves also have some byproduct which we never expect, such as serious problem of pollution and exhaust of resource with the expansion of industrialization. Therefore, science and technology can not change the condition of humanity at this aspect and even bring about some problems.

However, technology is a two blade sword and human beings are the user of the sword. If we use it proper, we have the reason to believe that it is possible for us to anticipate and control the effective influences produced by science and technology, and improve the condition of human beings as large as possible. Moreover, it is the socialists and government who make their responsible for the control of the applicant of science and technology rather than scientists. More recently, a lot of nations have increasingly aware of the threat, and have began to mitigate the byproduct and other ethic problems through more dialogue and frequent communication with each other.

In sum, although the war and violence stemming from nature of human beings are still and will exist, we cannot ignore the improvement of physical conditions made by science and technology. Besides government leaders should take their responsible for the mitigation of wars and violence, and other social problems produced by science and technology.

This idea does make sense to some extent, while after a careful and serious analysis on the essence of the problem, I believe that it would be one-sided or even dangerous to utterly depend on technology.

With the help of technology, we are now enjoying a great more convenient and comfortable life than ever before, however, we are now facing a host of serious environmental problems that should be well settled down. Otherwise, they would be a threat to humanity. In reality, for instance, technology has been introduced into factories to increase productivity while, at the same time, is polluting our waters and the air. Metropolis and skyscrapers, which seem to be symbols of improvement in human history, lead to increasingly declined area of farmland and forest. Moreover, nuclear power supposed to be implemented in power station appeared in the battlefield. Consequently, the rich land becomes a barren one and numerous kinds of animals and plants are getting rare or even go to extinction. Every year a majority of people in the world suffered from drought, flood, acid rain and so on. According to a myriad of incidents reflecting day-by-day aggravation of environment, it is no doubt that most of the environmental problems result from the abuse of technology.                                                                                                                                                                                                                      While people are complaining that technology do us a great harm, experts are looking for ways to get out of trouble. At last, ironically, technology again comes on to the stage. Ecologist and scientist quickly reach an agreement of cooperation, that is, to apply technology to restoring and protection of environment. For example, scientists are conceiving of a new technology to obtain fresh water from icebergs that will largely add to the inadequate water supply. Also, technology has been used to establish a well-designed system to supervise the overall change of world environment that help to take accurate and timely measures toward urgent situations. Yet the difficulties exist in some technological matters, it would be realistic and doable to employ technology to deal with the environmental problems.      

However, before taking a deeper look at what behind these problems, any conclusion is open to doubt. There is a key question need answering: Who indeed bring these problems? It’s not technology but we ourselves. Just like a baton in a conductor’s hand, technology is in our control. It’s our carelessness and shortsightedness that engendered technology abuse. Human need wood for energy so they cut down trees with saw in their hands without hesitation. When there are no trees to stop the solid being carried away by the flood, they blame the saw. Humanity wants to improve the living standard but that usually brings along with it an attitude that eager for quick success and instant benefit. Without clarifying this point, those problems maybe solved at present, yet the situation in the future won’t be better. Gradually, we will find us bogged down in an awful circulation that problems are remorselessly produced. Then that would become unmanageable, with catastrophic consequences for future generations. So the problem above all is to change people’s attitude and approach toward nature and environment and that would make technology become a good servant not a bad master to our environment. Take a famous example, Yellowstone National Park, which is until now the largest natural park over the world, was built in the voice of an increasing number of environmentalists 130 years ago. In conclusion, technology is not simply the answer to all problems. It is certain that, to successfully deal with the environmental problems, we should never wavers in the belief that only in a sane and reasonable way can we make better use of technology to serve the society and the environment. Technological innovations, generally considered to be the engine pulse of the progress made in the human history, are now under discussion. Whether technological innovation has changed the world, especially the overall humanity, according to the speaker, is confronting a suspicion. However, as far as I am concerned, no one could deny the great benefit that technology has brought to human beings, and no doubt, with the endeavor of all the human beings, the condition of humanity is to be changed ultimately.

The first point I am trying to make, is that the world is changing at every single minute and consequently, new issues always arise. However, the technological innovations had solved many of these problems for us throughout the history. The starvation problem caused by the population in China is a case in point. As China gained her independence, many of the western media and critics claims that the independence will soon be lost as Chinese can not feed themselves with these bare hands as the population is too big for their annual food production. However, Yuan Long pin, the great Chinese biology scientist, solved this crucial problem by his innovative technique in developing a brand new kind of wheat, which can produce a lot more rice than before. This innovation even benefits other regions in Asia. In addition, compared to the wars in old form, technological innovation has made new kind of wars, which are far less brutal. The modern wars are using electronic attacking methods, which rely on computers and network rather than iron weapons. As a result, almost nobody dies in this kind of wars. From the above two cases we can see how technological innovations changes the humanity by improving its condition.

However, technological tools cannot take effect on peoples minds. The vile natures of humanity, such as selfishness, greed, are somewhat innate with every individual. What technological innovation can help is to lessen and clear the negative impact that these abominable natures have brought to our lives, and finally change the humanity. To prevent lying on the court, a new device can detect the electronic waves emitted by the brain when the person involved is saying anything and then to judge if he was telling the truth. Obviously, because of the incapability to lie, one's only choice is to tell the truth. From this respective we can see that innovations of technology can weaken or clear the natural defects of human beings, and thus improve the humanity.

Finally, with the progress that human beings explore themsleves in the history and their future adventure, aided by the technological innovations, which serve as the engine pulse and sometimes restrictions, humanity is sure to be changed into a better one, war, violence, and poverty, together with the unknown problems that may arise in the future, are to be solved ultimately.
