66) The following appeared in a memo from the owner of a chain of cheese stores located throughout the United States.
For many years all the stores in our chain have stocked a wide variety of both domestic and imported cheeses. Last year, however, all of the five best-selling cheeses at our newest store were domestic cheddar cheeses from Wisconsin. Furthermore, a recent survey by Cheeses of the World magazine indicates an increasing preference for domestic cheeses among its subscribers. Since our company can reduce expenses by limiting inventory, the best way to improve profits in all of our stores is to discontinue stocking many of our varieties of imported cheese and concentrate primarily on domestic cheeses.

The owner of a chain of cheese stores spreading around United States suggests to stop many of imported cheese stocking and instead to focus on domestic ones to make their business more profitable. Though it is logical for the owner to consider content for sell to improve profits, his/her memo is rife with questions waiting to be answered.

The owner firstly needs to offer more information to answer whether it is because of popularity on domestic cheeses that Wisconsin, a domestic cheese manufacturer as the owner cites, has a bestselling record win TOP5 in their newest.
1. TOP5在总销量里占的percentage是多少，如果销量分配平均，则不能说明进口芝士不受欢迎
2.W的好销是归功于市场对本土芝士的青睐，还是因为W去年做了非常成功的推广？亦或是Newest store 有相关的促销？ 如果是促销导致的，那么不能说明本土芝士更受欢迎。因此需要更多数据来证明W好销是因为本土产品的关系。

As far as we concern the availability of the strategy concentrating on domestic products, more details are needed to answer what are the consumers’ habits in other stores but the newest one.  Newest store在US的什么位置，其情况是否能代表其他区域？不同区域消费者偏好的差异会影响芝士的选择和销售 Q3 去年的情况会否是一个fad? 比如W家老板上电视之类的，需要看更多数据来判断这种好卖趋势会否延续。

Moreover, while using an editorial survey to argue increasing preference for domestic cheeses may aid, the owner needs to display more information on what are the connection the background and real actions of these. Q1 CW这些订阅者是否就是/能代表 这个cheese stores的target consumers？他们是美食家还是普通消费者 Q2 这个调查是否有覆盖所有cheese store所在的地区 Q3 调查所显示的increasing是和以前相比，那么这种心态上的preference会否影响到实际的购买？需要一个全面调查数据来回答这些问题。

And the last and the most significant aspect waiting to be solved is the link between selling products and the profit. 常识来讲，进口商品售价较高，是否有可能销售进口商品的利润要高于本地商品？会否有只喜爱进口芝士的客人，如果停止销售进口芝士会否流失客人从而导致利润下滑？有没有其他的措施来提高商店的利润呢，比如加大宣传，和餐厅合作等。

    The first questions needed to be answered are that whether or not the decrease of imported cheese stockage could hamper related sales and the situations of other stores are the same as that of the newest store. 可能，很多顾客过来主要是为了买点进口的，同时再顺带买些国产的，在新开的那家也是如此，降低进口库存，可能会影响销售，就算陈本下降了，利润可能也上不去甚至下降；新开的店没在闹市区，别的店是在商业区或高档住宅小区旁，所面对的消费者的消费能力、口味偏好等不一样。

    Second, is the recent survey taken by Cheeses of the World typical enough to present the preference of the majority of customers? 杂志仅仅只是针对其的订阅者，可能这些订同一杂志的订阅者有些某些相似的爱好，会买国产的，但别的消费者则不一定；而且，订阅者中愿买国产的比例增加了，但具体是到了多少，很有可能依旧只是占总体比例的一小部分。再者，杂志所调查的对象数量没明确，可能会很少，因此没有说服力。

    Finally, the critical questions which need to be answered are that whether or not the domestic cheeses help to earn the majority profits in the newest store and would continue to be so in the forthcoming years. 确实是卖得相对最好，但是，可能售价比较低，所以利润空间不大，所带来的总利润也没有进口产品那么好。而且，可能去年是因为进口cheese的产地因为某些原因如气候、流感等等而产量锐减，所以价格高，买的人也少，那么，后几年，情况将未必如此。
