Even more horrible than any rumors you‘ve ever heard. Specifically in DC, only students who are alumni of ZJU can get jobs in WB or IMF by using their undergrad alumni connections. In terms of other organizations and other companies in this area, many of them only hire citizens and permanent residents. Most of them refuse to sponsor H1B visa.
At this point, getting a job in the fields of business and economics counts more on your luck than your capacity.

had been heard H1B is the issue...........further wanna ask (i am 路人甲 anyway):
realizing that the applicant is an international student, is it:
- less likely that the company will interview him/her
- or put in disadvantage in consideration after interview?

It is really hard to distinguish one situation from the other in fact. I would answer your question with one example: In one class at my business school, the instructor talked about the screening process adopted by some companies. In this process, their systems automatically pick out the Chinese names and kick the candidates out. It's hard to say what that exactly means but suffice it to say it's extremely hard for an international student to get a job here at this point.

This is definitely (1). No matter how capable one is, one is already kicked out from the pool since there're no chances to show the ability through interview.
I will say, if it is not a special case, this is even more horrible than.........say Switzerland.
