Issue26
Most people would agree that buildings represent a valuable record of any society's past, but controversy arises when old buildings stand on ground that modern planners feel could be better used for modern purposes. In such situations, modern development should be given precedence over the preservation of historic buildings so that contemporary needs can be served.
------正文------
With the pace of modernization, more buildings would be built (断句,and)as a result more places are needed. Consequently, there is a debate concerning that whether the old buildings should be superseded by the new ones. As far as I am concerned, people ought to consider the actual situation case-by-case(又是盗版!版权拿来!呵呵~~~~) to decide which one should be given precedence.
On the one hand, a considerable amount of the ancient buildings maintain great significant value that the new ones would never to gain the same, (断句!)therefore, people should try our(their) best to prevent these historical treasure form(?!偶也经常打错的字) being destroyed in order to let their beauty and historical value pass down. Especially in such countries that has a long and complicated history, for example China.(不完整的句子) As is known to all, the Beijing City is famous for its colorful and long history upon which many old and famous buildings could be standing in the city even today. The most famous(著名什么嘛!),(Purple) Forbidden City, has become an appealing and attracting(重复!) building today especially for tourism. The Forbidden City is not only the protecting project of China government, but also, it has gained an indispensable position in the hearts of us Chinese people, in our nation(应该说说在联合国的地位). Such an old building is never a mere construction, but a symbol of the confidence, reputation, and honor of China. Thus, probably there are and will be no other new ones could replace it. To some extent, human beings should take good care of these weighty buildings since they are not only buildings at all. (since后面的句子什么意思?加个weighty干嘛?)
On the other hand, some new projects with a definitive and considerable purpose toward people could be given precedence when facing some buildings though old but without value. For instant, surely many old houses are left here today in that many have not be destroyed or replaced for being neglected but do cost lots of areas. To illustrate this point, we can take a look at my hometown(济南?很一般嘛,不算老啊,题外话哈~~). My city has a long history and therefore many old houses still stand there. And many people are living in such old (and 多余) even dangerous buildings. A significant plan is made by the government that they(谁?) would like to widen the streets and build a new square in the very place where most of the old houses lie. This plan is sustained by us citizens immediately in that all the projects are quite important and desiring, moreover, people living in the old ones could move into new buildings or get relative money if they like. So to speak, to make people more convenient, to make the city more beautiful, to make the place more significant(好像前面用了n次了,useful行吗?), the old ones of little value have no choice but give their way to the new ones. Otherwise, it is undesirable that some ugly and useless buildings take lots of area but the government has no place to build a college(莫名其妙!来个大学干嘛?嫌CUMT小啊!呵呵~~).
Accordingly, it is not a simple case to say yes or no to answer the question that whether the new ones must be given precedence. Best method to handle this problem for the government is to do considerate and full-viewed work. That is to evaluate the true value both of the ancient buildings and the new ones, then make a comparison between the two, thus make a decision. It is also necessary for government to consider the views of the public with an eye to avoiding the partial decision only reflecting the interest of the government or the profits. Or the government may do something declining their reputation in the society.
To sum up, people must pay attention to the old cherished treasure being handed down by our wise ancestors and at the same time make a proper and right decision toward the destiny of the old but little value ones due to that the ground could be better used for modern purposes.(641限时)
可以,意思很清楚。
