Take account of the students' future, some people claim that educational institutions should encourage their students to choose fields of study that will prepare them for lucrative careers. It’s true that lucrative careers will provide students good life. From my perspective, however, students should not choose fields of study only by the prospect of fields.
First, it must be admitted that it's good for students to choose field of study that can provide them with lucrative careers in that regardless of whichever kind of life we choose, the base is always the material base. We cannot do anything without this material base. There are no doubt that those fields of study that will prepare them for lucrative careers can give them this base. Therefore students should choose those fields of study.
However, the feasibility of this suggestion is not reasonable given that no one can point out that which fields of study can prepare students for lucrative careers. For example, these days some fields such as finance, computer science and so on, these fields in deed can make much money and prepare students for lucrative. However, how is it after some years? Will these fields continue to provide lucrative careers? No one can say yes without doubt. In this case, I disagree with this claim according to the feasibility of this suggestion.
What’s more, the result of this suggestion will not be benefit to the whole country. There are less proper people with ability to meet the country's need if students choose those fields that prepare them lucrative careers. For example, these days, many students choose computer science rather than other fundamental subject such math, material science and so on to peruse a lucrative careers. Under this circumstance, the country will lose advance force in that it cannot get enough talents to promote its development.
In conclusion, despite the advantage of this suggestion that can provide lucrative careers in some case, I disagree with this claim that students should be encouraged to choose fields of study that will prepare them for lucrative careers with a view to its feasibility and consequence.
