发信人: erain (红花会主), 信区: Visa
标 题: 我的签证准备 - 关键问题 - 商学背景
发信站: BBS 水木清华站 (Fri Aug 9 01:37:34 2002)
1. Why you need a Ph.D. degree since you have a management master degree?
【Key】 Because my career plan is to be a No 1 professor in management science
in China. A Ph.D. degree from the United States is an important credential
for such an academic position. The doctoral education can provide me with
the most advanced theory, rigorous academic training and modern research me
thodology, which can help me to get a better entry when I came back to China.
2. What is Management Science?
Management Science also can be called Operations Research. It is to solve
practical management problems by scientific methods such as mathematics,
statistics and computer science. It can help the manager to make scientific
decision by quantitative methods.
3. What is your plan after your graduation?
【Key】 I will come back to my School of Economics & Management to be a
professor in Tsinghua University. Actually, I had worked closely with my sup
ervisor and department chair. I have built a very good relationship with them.
Here is a letter from my department chair. You can have a look.
Both of them are very satisfactory with my past
excellent performance. They really want me to come back to work with the them
after my graduation.
4. Why do not you stay in U.S. since you may easily find a well-paid job?
【Key】 Management Science is not a set of pure theory, it is a culture related
area. Because of language and cultural gap, it always be difficult for C
hinese students to get a proper position in business schools in US. Even if
I get such position, the promotion will be rather hard and slow, about ten y
ears to become a full professor. While in China, I can be promoted to full p
rofessor in five years. And my position and salary will be satisfactory. The
re is little room for me to develop my career in the States.
5. Why you come back from U.S.?
【Key】1) Many excellent Chinese business schools already can provide me dec
ent position and high salary, generally with a starting salary about 20,000
RMB per month for associate professor. That’s nearly USD 40,000 a year aft
er bonus. Besides, I can get quicker promotions in China.
2) It will be a right time to come back to China when I graduate in 2006. A
ccording to the government’s reports, Chinese universities will admit 27,00
0 MBA from a pool of 135,000. So to be a professor in Chinese business scho
ol will be very promising. I’d like to train domestic MBA to help develop
China economy more effective and robust by what I will learn from US of sci
entific management methods. I won’t be silly to give up such opportunities
.
3) Unlike other major, Management Science is not only pure theory. As a bu
siness major, the culture background is crucial to perform research in this
arena. China is the best place to develop my career as a professor in busin
ess. I have studied here, worked here and lived here for so many years. I
can easily understand the operations of Chinese corporations.
【备用1】In fact, My parents are old. It's quite difficult for them to bring
me up. I think it's the time for me to do something for them. I will come b
ack to look after them.
【备用2】With the development of China, the government provides a lot of fav
orable policy to attract the oversea students, such as position, salary, res
earch fund, research facility and so on. I believe more and more oversea stu
dents will come back.
【备用3】So if I can bring the knowledge back and teach them to Chinese stud
ents in China, I think such efforts may be more meaningful to China.
6.
1) How can you be sure you will get such a position in your school?
【Key】 I had built very good relationship with my supervisor, department
chair and other professors. They support my study plan and really want me
to come back to work with them. Here is the letter from my department chair.
2)You know after four years, many things will be changed. How can you be sur
e you will get such position in your school after four years?
【Key】 I have already had the best academic background in my area in China.
Business is a hot major. Only very few excellent Chinese students can get s
uch chance to pursue a Ph.D. degree in a US first-class business school. My
school has a tradition to welcome the students who have oversea Ph.D. degree
s to come back. So when I get a business Ph.D. from UT Austin, I will be ver
y competitive for such positions.
7. If you still can not find such position in your school, what will you do?
【Key】 First, I am confident I can get a proper position in my school. Beca
use … (as above)
Even if I can not find a proper position in my school, there are some other
leading Chinese business schools can offer me an ideal position, for example
, the Guanghua School of Management in Peking University. I had talked my ca
reer plan with its vice dean, professor xxxxx. He showed me their recen
t recruiting advertisement. They offers those students with an oversea Ph.D.
degree from US with a starting salary about $50,000 a year for associate pr
ofessor.
8. Since you have a business major, why don’t you choose to enter enterpris
es while decide to be a professor?
【Key】 To perform research in my favorite area is my interests. To be a pro
fessor is my dream.
In fact, to be a professor in my school can bring me ideal position and high
salary. Even now, my school’s professors generally have a stating salary a
round 20,000 RMB a month. And most of them frequently give high-paid lecture
s, short term trainings and personal consultation to many large corporations.
9. Do you know why you are rejected in last time?
【Key】Yes, it is because I am too nervous to answer the questions in a clea
r way. So the officer misunderstood me a lot.
10.If I do not give you this visa, what will you do then?
【Key】 If I can not get the visa, your university will lose an excellent
student, a future outstanding scholar. Its your loss, not mine. |
