After all, authority is still human beings, his/her advice or theory comes from their experience, include his/her own ratiocination, therefore he/she has the same possibility as the average people to make mistakes.  Authority is right when he/she conform to the trend of the development of the society, but he/she will be wrong when his/her mind is out of date and even more retards the advance of the society. For instance, we all known that inventor Tomas Edison is a authority on innovations for his thousands inventions, but in his senectitude, when a young scientist who cooperate with him find a new way to improve the telegraph technology and wanted to apply a patent, Edison despise that invention and thought it was nothing. So Edison rejected that application and even hinder it by using his social powers. But actually, that invention made a communication revolutionary. In this, we can see that follow authority is not always benefit for the well-being of our authority.
