We are seeking two highly motivated PhD students starting from fall 2017. Full scholarship will be provided.
1st Position: The student will work on developing and building novel optical imaging platforms for different applications. This position will focus more on instrumentation and technique development. Therefore, the student who has strong hands-on experience and skill to build optical and electrical instrument and system will be preferred. Other requirements: major in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics or related areas; candidates who have or are pursuing a master’s degree are encouraged to apply.
2nd Position: The student will focus on using novel imaging techniques for biomedical applications. Requirements: candidates should have experience on working with biological samples (cells or tissues); major in biomedical engineering, biology, electrical engineering or related area; the student with experience of microscopes will be preferred; candidates who have or are pursuing a master’s degree are encouraged to apply.
Student with CSC support is welcome to join us.
My research has been focused on developing novel plasmonic-based imaging technologies and applied them to catalytic and biological research to image and measure the electrical, chemical properties in ways that were previously not possible.
The current research interests include:
1. Developing novel plasmonic and photonic imaging and measurement techniques for energy and biology research.
2. Measuring and understanding catalytic reaction dynamics on single nanoparticles and nanomaterials
3. 2D materials characterization
4. Novel imaging and detection techniques for cancer diagnosis and treatment
5. Small molecule-protein interaction measurement for drug screening
