Our group of engineering researchers incorporate cutting-edge advances in RF/optical sensing devices and embedded heterogeneous System-on-Chip (SoC) platforms (ARM, FPGA, GPU, etc.) into novel sensor technologies that address critical problems in science and industry.

Knowledge/skills you will gain include, but not limited to, system/PCB-level RF/optical design, digital design (FPGA/ARM/GPU co-design), signal/power integrity, etc. Our graduates had excellent job placements along with outstanding publication records.

University of Rhode Island (URI) is located in southern New England by the Atlantic Ocean. It is about one and half hour driving distance away from Boston and three hours away from NYC. The campus is surrounded by over 40 public beaches. The state of Rhode Island is well known for its long coastal line and great seafood.

All positions are fully funded through research assistantship (RA) including tuition waiver and
stipend (~ $2,000 per month).

Requirements:
1) BS or MS in EE/CpE/ME/physics or related areas.
2) Knowledge in PCB design or/and embedded systems is preferred.
3) Minimum TOEFL requirement is 80 by graduate school. There is no minimum GRE requirement.

I received this same question a few times already.

Q: How long does it take to graduate with a PhD degree in your group?

A: with a BS degree, typically 4-5 years (no more than 6 years); with a MS degree, typically, 3-4 years (no more than 5 years).
