I oversee graduate admissions at Texas A&M Chemistry and I am writing to you regarding your application to our PhD program.  Thank you for your interest in our department.  We are always glad to see strong applications from XXX（本科学校）.  I realize that you submitted your application quite a while ago and I apologize for not getting in touch about it with you sooner.  Your application is of interest to us and we have not made a decision on it yet.  I do not think we are done with making offers and we will probably be making more offers.  However, I do not know yet how many more offers we will make and I cannot tell you at this time whether an offer will be made to you.  

At the same time, I hope that you will not make a commitment to another school before hearing from us more concretely.  Please understand that it is not a matter of indecision about whether you would succeed in our program - that is not an issue, and I would not be writing to you if we did not think you would do very well here.  It is rather a matter of working out how many offers, especially international offers, we may make this year.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

求问shortlist和waitlist的区别？有人被这样通知过吗？大概什么时候能转正或者有结果？
