Hongxiao Zhu (hxzhu2010@gmail.com)。非正式的成绩单和GRE/TOEFL分数亦可。我们完成初步筛选后会跟你联系。
Scholarship Opportunity at Virginia Tech, U.S.A.
An interdisciplinary team is searching for a candidate to apply for either one of the following PhD programs: Statistics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech. If selected, the team will nominate the candidate for a doctoral scholarship sponsored by the Institute for Critical Technology and Applied Science (ICTAS) at Virginia Tech. The scholarship offers full tuition waive plus 12 months’ stipend for four years.
Expectations:
(1) The candidate is expected to meet the admission requirements of the targeting PhD program. The standards may vary for different departments, but the admission committee usually looks at application materials such as GPA, transcripts, GRE and TOEFL (international student only) scores, as well as recommendation letters.
(2) If successfully recruited, the candidate is expected to work with the team on sonar-based computation and learning. More information of the project is available at: http://www.apps.stat.vt.edu/zhu/projects/sonar_page.htm . The candidate will develop computational tools and machine learning algorithms for sonar-based drones that mimic bats’ biosonar. In particular, the candidate will primarily focus on computation, including environments/ echo simulations, data analysis, modeling, and the development of robotic algorithms. In this regard, computation skills in either Matlab or Python is required; lower-lever programming languages such as C/C++ are highly desirable; knowledge in high-performance computing; computer graphics, mathematical and statistical modeling is a plus.
We encourage either domestic or international applicants with strong quantitative and computational background to apply for this opportunity. If interested, please email your CV, transcripts, GRE and TOEFL (if applicable) to Dr. Hongxiao Zhu (hxzhu2010@gmail.com).
